Fall is beautiful in El Dorado County!  Our businesses are ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas is just around the corner! Apple Hill celebrates their 50th anniversary and the farms and wineries are open; the Adventure Loop is open; we are waiting for your visit.       

There are many styles of events in El Dorado County from casual to elegant.  You will find all of these events here!   

How to use this newsletter.  All specific dated events are contained in the first part of the newsletter.  Ongoing activities, concert series, farmers markets and more, are listed at the end of the newsletter.   Event information sometimes changes or events are cancelled, so please check final event information directly with the event sponsor.

Art on the Divide Gallery guest artist for November is Eva Szorc.  Eva paints beautiful and realistic paintings, described as uplifting and romantic.   A reception will be held for Eva on Sunday, November 16 (see date below).  There is also a display of Golden Sierra High School students work reflecting on the King Fire.  This work will be on display through December.  Recent work has been done on the AODG rose garden and it is a great enhancement to the Gallery.  The Gallery is a charming addition to Georgetown and definitely one of the destination points for Georgetown.  Art on the Divide Gallery is located at 6295 Main St., Georgetown.  For more info go to or call 530/333-2787.  Gallery hours 10am-5pm Friday-Sunday.  

Art on the Divide Cooperative Gallery is celebrating the holidays with community-inspired and created ornaments. Create your ornament and bring to the AODC gallery to be placed on the "Giving Tree". The sales for these ornaments begins Sunday, November 16th. All sales proceeds from these ornaments will be donated to Birthday Buddies. Birthday Buddies is a free program on the Georgetown Divide that distributes "A Birthday in a Bag" to children between ages 1 and 9 of low income families. You can also donate by purchasing one of these special ornaments during the holiday season. Deliver your ornament Nov. 15-Dec. 13, during regular gallery hours, Friday thru Sunday 10 am-5 pm. 13th Annual Empty Bowls Project at St. Patrick's Church in Placerville.  4:30-8:00pm Artists create bowls and donors pay for a bowl, select the bowl and eat soup in those bowls for the evening.  This is a project to benefit food charities.  The suggested donation is $15-$50.  Potters create the bowls for the supper, bread is baked and soup is served.  The guests will keep their hand crafted bowl.  To volunteer or make soup call Carla 530/622-9549 or Maureen 530/647-9546.

Festival of Lights 5:30PM - 8PM on Historic Main Street in Placerville. The old-fashioned festivities will close Historic Main Street and begin around 5:30PM at various locations up and down Main Street with music, entertainment, visits with Santa, stagecoach rides (4-6pm) and the tree-lighting at 6PM at the Courthouse. November 29th and November 30th, 2014

Historic Holiday Houses (this event replaces Christmas in Coloma).   10-4pm Thirteen of the parks buildings that are normally closed will be open and decorated for the holidays. Docents will be at each house to tell the history of the building and there will be refreshments served at certain houses.  Also wreath making, cookie decorating, wagon rides, music, and of course Santa. 36th Annual Christmas Parade.  This big Holiday Parade takes place rain or shine and starts at the Broadway Plaza parking lot on upper Broadway in Placerville at 1pm and continues down Main Street. Tea in Toyland has been presented by the Friends of Old Hangtown since 1999. It is a holiday presentation for children and their special folks.Tickets are $5.00 per child and $8.00 per adult. Stagecoach rides with Davey Wiser.  Davey and his crew can be found 3rd Saturday (except June) afternoons near the Bell Tower on historic Main Street between noon and 4PM.
