Dear Falls Church Family,
Two days after the election, now what? We still do not know the outcome and what will happen once the President for the next four years is identified. And this can make us all a bit crazy and anxious. I know it does me. A good question posed for people of faith is, “How then shall we live?” There are many questions about our nation and how we can be the United States of America and live into our ideals as a nation with forbearance, civility and respect for all, especially for the common good. We don’t yet know what our nation will look like and perhaps the deep questions of our identity as people of this democratic nation are hard to verbalize with so many unknowns.
BUT, what I do know is we know who we are: We are God’s beloved children and so is everyone else no matter what side of the political fence they stand or lean on. And we here at The Falls Church Episcopal are Christ’s Body….and so we must remember the words of St. Teresa of Avila, Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassion on this world, yours are the feet with which he walks to do good, yours are the hands with which he blesses the world. MORE

Bailey's Dinners are Back:
Sunday, November 8
For several years, The Falls Church Episcopal has been preparing dinner for the people staying at the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter on the second Sunday of each month.
During the pandemic, we have had the meals catered by Spin Pollo Restaurant, but we are going back to cooking the meal for the shelter in a responsible and safe manner. Here's the game plan -
we need volunteers to:
* Make cupcakes at home and bring to the church
* Cook the beans at home and bring to the church
* Cut up the onions and peppers at home and bring to the church
* Cook the meat at church: heat up the beans, cook the rice and the
onions/peppers, and assemble the meals into individual containers.
Masks and gloves are mandatory at all times and we will use both the
kitchen and Fellowship Hall to stay socially distanced.
* Deliver the containers to the shelter
* Clean up the kitchen and Fellowship Hall afterwards

Spooky Halloween Food Drive held Saturday, October 31st
TFCE members and friends once again donated generously to our food drive for Falls Church Community Services. Volunteers loaded three SUV's with donations (which filled nine tables at drop-off), and loved all the Halloween costumes! FCS staff noted they were running low on the items we donated and sincerely appreciated our generosity. Thanks to all who participated.

The Little Free Food Pantry
On Fairfax Street near the church’s Thrift Shop is a small “take some food, leave some food” pantry (like the “little libraries” where people can take or leave a book). We are definitely seeing people use that pantry to supplement their groceries, and you can drop off non-perishable food items there at any time.
|
|
We ask that during this time you please continue to make an effort to contribute to the Church as you normally would. Although we are not having in-person services, the work of our parish, staff, and clergy continues. Fulfilling our mission and our vision to be an enduring beacon of faith, hope, and love is crucial during these days.
