OUR MISSION:

St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.

We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.

From the Desk of Mrs. Tiezzi

Dear St. Rita Parents/Guardians,

St. Rita School will be open for a full-day of learning this Friday, November 11 (Veterans Day). Our students and teachers will be attending 9:00 Mass at St. Rita Church. In honor of Veterans Day, we invite all our parents and grandparents, especially those who are veterans, to join us for Mass. Our 3rd grade class is in charge of the Mass and will be singing a special song in honor of our veterans. Teachers will spend time during the day on Friday to teach our students about the sacrifices service members and their families make year round. Please take time out of your workday to acknowledge those men and women you know who so valiantly have sacrificed to keep our country safe.

This Sunday, November 13, from 12:30 P.M -2:00 P.M., we will be having an in-person Open House for prospective families. Please share with your friends, relatives, or neighbors, all the great things that are happening at our school. If they are interested in having their child/ren attend St. Rita School next year, please encourage them to register on our website for this event. If they would like more information about the Open House, have them contact our admissions director, Mrs. Joanne Bruno.

Over the past week, we have noticed an uptick in student illnesses -- colds, coughs, RSV, flu, COVID, etc. With the holiday season fast approaching, as well as a number of students and staff members with compromised immune systems, we all need to be diligent with health concerns. Please do not send your child to school if he or she is experiencing symptoms of illness. If your child is out of school for any reason, please notify the main office before 9:00 A.M.

Now that the colder weather has arrived, be sure your child comes to school with a winter jacket. Students are outside daily, weather permitting, and need to be dressed appropriately to really enjoy their outside time. Thanks for all that you are doing to help keep our students and staff healthy and safe.

Luke Hamling, a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 608 in Hamden, has been a scout for over eleven years, a member of St. Paul VI Parish, has served as an altar boy, and graduated from St. Rita School in 2019. His Eagle Scout project will involve renovating two of the church signs to reflect our new parish, including landscaping of those areas once the signs have been installed. He chose this project because he believes having unified signs will help with the building of community at our unified parish of St. Paul VI Parish.

To complete this project, he must raise over $9,600 in order to pay for the signs and landscaping items. He is asking the school community to assist with this effort. All monies raised will go directly to this project, and any money raised in excess of the project needs will go towards the signage needs at the other two churches which will also be renovated in the future

To help with this project please click below to contribute through his GoFundMe page.
