“Stop Trashing Our Air Act”
November 1, 2025
This Liberty Bird Alliance ADVOCATE is especially intended for our members and supporters who reside in Philadelphia and for our Montgomery County members who work in the city. The issue of managing our waste stream and dealing with the adverse environmental impact of waste management has been with us for decades! Reduce, Renew, Recycle has been the recurring slogan for many years. The “Stop Trashing Our Air Act” provides an opportunity for our Liberty Bird Alliance members to lend their voices to improve how we deal with our waste stream!
The "Stop Trashing Our Air Act" is an example of a bill now being introduced by Councilwoman Jamie Gauthier. The email below includes info on the bill, and some of the community outreach by Mike Ewell, Energy Justice Network, who has been working on this bill for at least 4 years. A hearing on the bill will be held in City Council on Monday at 1:00.
The Energy Justice Network arranged a "Toxic Tour" last Friday in and around Chester to highlight the facility's impact on Philly's southern neighbors. The tour was attended by City Council members Jamie Gauthier and Kendra Brooks, along with staff members for other Council members. Here is a link to the article in the Philadelphia Inquirer about the Toxic Tour:
