MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

I hope this message finds you well as we transition into the holiday season. November brings us exciting opportunities to come together, reflect on past events, and plan for the future. In this month's newsletter, we have some fantastic updates and invitations for you. To begin, let’s recap two of our most recent annual events.

The BOMA/GLA Awards Gala, held on October 19, 2023, at the Sheraton DTLA was an extraordinary evening of celebration and recognition. The event showcased the outstanding achievements and contributions of our dedicated members and annual partners. From honoring industry trailblazers to acknowledging innovative projects that have left a lasting impact on our community, the gala was a testament to the remarkable talent and commitment within our association. It was a night filled with inspiration, camaraderie, and pride as we celebrated excellence in commercial real estate. Congrats to all of our winners and nominees and we look forward to building on this momentum and continuing to elevate our industry in the coming year.

On November 6^th, we held our annual Masters Golf Tournament at the beautiful Palos Verdes Golf Club. The weather was amazing, and it was a resounding success! We had a day filled with remarkable (and some questionable) golf, camaraderie, and good times. Thank you to our sponsors, participants, and volunteers who made this event possible. In addition to a great time, together we raised $2,500 for our BOMA/GLA Industry Defense Fund.

Finally, I am thrilled to announce the promotion of Blake Perez to the position of Director of Government and Public Affairs for BOMA/GLA. Blake's exemplary dedication, extensive knowledge, and proven track record in navigating the complexities of government relations make him the perfect fit for this critical role. We are confident that under his leadership, our association will continue to advance its mission, advocate effectively for our members, and shape the future of our industry. Please join me in congratulating Blake on this well-deserved achievement, and we look forward to his continued contributions to our organization's success. What's Happening in Advocacy

BOMA Cal Board Attends CBPA Strategic Issues Conference in Long Beach

Members of the BOMA Cal Board attended the 2024 CBPA Strategic Issues Conference in Long Beach. The event featured members of the commercial real estate community from across the state to discuss goods movement, economic development in the Inland Empire, and ballot issues in 2024.

The Taxpayer Protection Act will be a crucial ballot issue for our industry next year. This measure would require new tax proposals to receive greater community buy-in before passing. The state legislature is fighting back with ACA 13, a competing initiative that attempts to make taxpayer safeguards more difficult to approve, as well as a direct lawsuit to remove TPA from the ballot.
