3 - Booster Club Membership & Information

We’ve got Churchill spirit, yes, we do! We’ve got Churchill spirit, how about you!?!

Booster Club Membership - Join Now!

BE A PART OF THE TEAM BEHIND THE TEAM!

We are off to a record-breaking year with memberships and sponsorships! Thank you to all the families who have joined the Booster Club. You are what makes Churchill athletics amazing.

Why join? Whether your student is an athlete, a fan, or participates in PE, the Booster Club helps make the experience safer, more competitive, and more fun by providing important resources and support!

What is the Booster Club? The Booster Club works with the Athletic Department to ensure that our athletes have the necessary equipment and facilities to compete safely and at the highest possible level each year. The county provides Churchill with only a fraction of what it takes to support our sports teams. In a typical year, the athletics budget spent per athlete (per roster spot) at Churchill is around $220, yet the County’s contribution is less than $80. The Booster Club plays a critical role in providing supplemental resources to help offset this shortfall.

Can’t remember if you joined this year? Several teams are getting close to 100% membership! Will it be your team? If you can’t remember if you joined the Booster Club already this year, ask your Team Booster Rep or send an email to our Membership Chair, Claire Drummond and she’ll check for you! Help your team earn 10% of it’s membership dollars and $300 for 100% team membership!

Your annual membership in the Booster Club will provide our student athletes and teams with these resources.

WHAT IS A TEAM BOOSTER ACCOUNT AND WHAT ARE THE RULES ON USING THOSE FUNDS?

A “Team Booster Account” consists of funds held for the team in the Booster Club’s main bank account. The Booster Club Treasurer maintains records of the balance, deposits, and withdrawals made by each team. When a team earns a membership incentive, that money is recorded as internally “transferred” from the Booster Club’s funds to the team’s balance. Similarly, funds raised by the team via the Booster Club’s online payment system or submitted for deposit to a Team Booster Account via check or cash are deposited in the Booster Club’s main account and then internally recorded as belonging to the respective team’s account. Please use the Deposit Form found on our website for all cash and check deposits. Checks should be made out to the WCHS Booster Club with the team name in the memo space on the check.

Funds in a Team Booster Account are subject to the rules and regulations placed on funds raised by the Booster Club, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. MCPS strongly recommends that club funds be used exclusively for charitable and educational purposes to organize, establish, promote and support all athletic programs equitably through clear and specific guidelines for the distribution of funds in accordance with the MCPS policies and the provisions of Title IX. Thus, funds raised by booster clubs may not be used to purchase personal items for any teams or individuals such as shoes, socks, mouth guards or any item retained by the student.

*However, there is a nominal exception to this the usage restrictions that allows teams to use up to $550 per year on things like the team banquet, senior night, gifts, personalized player gear, or other things that become personal items of the players or coaches. Teams may otherwise use their Booster Account funds for team equipment and items that remain the property of the school or team like goals, team uniforms, etc. To withdraw funds for any expenditure, please remember that you will need an invoice for direct payment by the Booster Club or a paid receipt for reimbursement. Please use the Reimbursement Form on our website or contact Scott Greenspan, our Treasurer, for more information.
