TOWN CLEAN-UP

This year's Fall Town Clean-up is this upcoming weekend (Nov 4th and Nov 5th)! Work begins at 9am. There's "mulch" to do:

  • mulch SE 28th off of 107th
  • mulch over squished mole mounds in Academy Path Woods
  • adjust storage pile on east side of the Angle Path
  • Also, trim roadsides for pedestrian safety
  • Remove ivy growing up trees

See mailbox stand flyer for other details!

COMMUNTY MEETING FOR GLEN PATH RESTORATION PROJECT

At 7:00 pm on November 9th at the Dix home, there will be a community meeting to discuss the proposed landscape plans for restoration of the Glen Path. (The space is small, but hopefully will prove adequate).

BILLING FOR BACKFLOW DEVICE TESTING

Invoices for the Town’s 2023 Backflow-Prevention Device (BFD) testing program were mailed to participating residents on Friday October 27th. Please note that billing for this service is separate from billing for water service.

DUMPING AT SE 29th STREET AND 105th AVE SE

The Town occasionally finds household goods dumped in the planting area on the southeast corner of this intersection. If no one claims the items, the Town must pay for their removal and dumping – a cost that is passed on to ALL residents. If you see someone dumping items on Town property, please ask that the items be removed. If you have information about who may be responsible for the dumping, please contact Mayor Aletha Howes or Clerk/Treasurer Sue Ann Spens. Thank you!

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council met on Tuesday October 10th to discuss the following:

  • A preliminary budget for 2024. This discussion happened after the first of two public hearings regarding the 2024 Budget. The second will be held on Tuesday November 14th and will include an ordinance setting the 2024 Property Tax Levy.
  • Resolution No. 329 authorizing the Mayor to execute an Interlocal Agreement with King County for historical preservation services. This is the final piece of work begun by the Planning Commission that will provide assistance to property owners seeking to preserve their historical homes.
  • Resolution No. 330 authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract for hearing examiner services with Scheibmeir, Kelly & Nelson.
  • A review of proposed changes to the right-of-way maintenance services contract with Marc’s Land Service.
  • Continued discussion of a water rate study.
  • A review of Mayor Howes’ discussions with the building department about options for better tree-code enforcement under the current Tree Code.
  • A discussion of legislative priorities. This initial discussion was meant to open the discussion, which will continue at the November Council meeting.
