IMPORTANT UPDATE

Government shutdown impacts AE

However, members may still place orders for materials and register for the ACE Program at this time. Also note, Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) Flights have also been paused.

In addition, the entire AE team and majority of CAP employees will begin furlough effective Nov. 9. We are unable to respond to emails or calls at this time. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding during this period.

AE Safety Check

(These safety briefs are things to think about as you lead or participate in an Aerospace Education activity. The writer of this monthly feature is Lt. Col. Karen Cooper, who works in safety and risk management on the AE National Headquarters Staff and is also the Northeast Region DCS/Aerospace Education.)

SAFELY SET UP YOUR AE ACTIVITY ENVIRONMENT

Now that our AE Activities are moving indoors again, how closely do you look at the room that you will be using? When you are setting up the room, please remember to keep a minimum of about 3 feet of space between pieces of furniture in any area where a person could be expected to be. Why? In case of fire, firefighters will need that room to navigate easily and for safety reasons. This 3-foot clearance/unobstructed path for movement allows them to move quickly, including any equipment they need to carry. This also allows for the members of your unit to evacuate in an orderly manner with no obstructions.

If you have a safety topic you would like to be included in this space, please email kcooper@ner.cap.gov.
