2019 Business Award Winners
Annual Celebration
Six great local companies and organizations were honored at our annual Auction and Awards Celebration at Thornton Academy.  We are thrilled to recognize the following outstanding contributors in our community:

* The Family-Owned Business of the Yea r award went to Haley's Metal Shop , who were cited for their expertise and service for five generations and for more than 100 years in business in Biddeford.

* The Entrepreneur of the Year award went to Doug Sanford , owner and developer of the Pepperell Mill Campus, for being one of the pioneering leaders in the growth and revitalization of our area.

* The Small Business of the Year award went to Keep it Local Maine . Nominators praised owners Todd and Kim Regoulinsky for their customer-centric approach and focus on supporting Maine's local economy.

* The Large Business of the Year was awarded to Saco & Biddeford Savings  for their enduring commitment to giving back to the community in so many ways, which is a cornerstone of their company culture.

* The Business Excellence award went to Amtrak Downeaster , nominated for their reliable daily rail transportation service in Saco since 2001.

* The Non-Profit of the Year award was given to Southern Maine Health Care , recognized for their compassionate care and dedicated team of employees in providing health service leadership in the region.

We recently visited Barreled Souls owners Matt Mills and Chris Schofield at their brewing facility in Mill Brook Park for a behind-the-scenes look at their unique barrel-aged fermentation process that produces some of the most unique and tasty microbrews in Maine.

Mark your calendars to celebrate Small Business Saturday on November 30th. There will be a Maker’s Market from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pepperell Mill Campus in Biddeford featuring local artisans selling handcrafted goods. Also, Saco Main St. will once again be giving away 300 gift cards worth $5 at downtown Saco shops, starting at The Saco Scoop at 10am. Wear an ugly sweater and be entered into a raffle for a package of great downtown items. With the holidays fast approaching, ‘tis the season to start thinking about the impact your purchasing decisions make on your community.

Transit Meetings on Regional Fare Policy

Biddeford Saco O.O.B. Transit will hold public meetings in December to present information and collect input on a new fare policy and automatic payment options.
