Executive Director's Post
Halloween, Turkey Day, Parties and Snow what a mix of things, just sounds like a busy Chamber of Commerce that offers a variety of programs for all. It also reminds me to tell you about a seminar that was presented by Natural Design and Graphics. The subject was "The Importance of Email Marketing and Social Media Integration", a topic that today is used or could be used by every Chamber member business but the attendance was very low. So, the big question from me is, "What do you need that the Chamber could provide a seminar for you to learn more to augment your business dealings?" As we prepare for scheduling our events and programs for 2020 it is important for you to tell us what you want to see and hear. We can then provide strong programs to help you see a portion of a return on your investment. I constantly try to answer your question "What's in it for me?" by offering events and programs that will meet your expectations but I need your help.

I believe it is the job of the Chamber to provide an environment in Defiance for economic development to take place and all of us have a stake in that endeavor. Please share your thoughts, or questions posed above via email [email protected] or by call (419) 782-7946.

No idea is too small or too large to be considered, just share. Over the next four weeks, the Defiance College Marketing Research Class will be doing a market assessment and analysis on behalf of the Chamber. These students will be reaching out to you the members and collecting an array of information. This information will help your chamber better market your needs.

It is also that time, as we move into the holiday season, for me to say "Thank You" for all you do in making Defiance a better place to live and work. I look forward to hearing from you!

Please see below a list of all of our upcoming events and see what our members have going on!

Shop Small With Defiance!
November 30, 2019
Small Business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and now is a great time to get involved. This year, we're planning a proper Shop Small Event for shoppers when they come out. The Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce will be teaming up with the Defiance Development and Visitors Bureau to make your shopping local fun and rewarding.

This event will run November 25th through December 11th. During this time frame when you visit a participating business you will receive one stamp on your passport. You will need to turn your passport into the Defiance Area Chamber of Commerce Office or the Defiance Development and Visitors Bureau Office no later than 4pm on December 11th. We will then draw 3 names for some fun local prizes!
Here's How Your Business Can Join In:

  1. Contact the Chamber no later than Friday, November 15th to have your Business placed on the Shop Small Passport.
  2. Once you have committed to participate in this event we will provide you with some marketing materials.
  3. Think of a fun treat, experience or sale you can offer to shoppers during this time. It can be anything from giving out hot cider, playing holiday music or offering a special sale.
  4. Proudly display and advertise your Shop Small poster in your store window to ensure shoppers know you are participating.
