November 2025 Chamber Newsletter

Hello-

November is knocking on our door!

As we are approaching the end of the year, it is time for the Chamber to think about all the things on our to-do list. One item on the list is to obtain current information on what our Chamber members are up to, what they are dealing with, need help with, lose sleep over, and use that information to focus on what relevant resources we can provide.

The big question: How do we get members to willingly share that information without bothering them too much? It is a great question!

SO....we are going to start with monthly surveys of our members. UGH SURVEYS YOU SAY!? Hold on, I'm saying 1-3 questions! I'm going to test the waters this month just in this newsletter with an easy survey. Click here to take the survey. There are only 40 survey responses allotted to it....I wonder if I can get 10 responses?

If a survey is not your jam, you can always shoot us an e-mail with what is going on in your world or set up an appt to talk over the phone or in person. We can't help if we don't know what is going on and last time I checked we do not bite.

I probably should stop as all the Halloween candy has given me a sugar high, I'll donate the rest of the candy to Dental Professionals on Monday!

As always if you need anything or have questions for the Chamber do not hesitate to ask and please share this newsletter with your co-workers, there is a lot of good content from the Chamber and all our members.

Thank you if you have read this far!

Have a wonderful November and Thanksgiving. We are so thankful for all your support.

Out in the Open: Early Detection, Education and Advocacy Keys to Beating Cancer

Medical experts and survivors discuss gynecological and breast cancer at ‘Breaking the Silence’ event

Dr. Valencia Brown battled breast cancer virtually alone.

When Brown, dean of the Community and Human Services Academic and Career Pathway at Milwaukee Area Technical College, was diagnosed with the disease 10 years ago, she hardly told a soul.

“I didn’t want anyone to know,” she recalled. “I didn’t want people feeling sorry for me. But that was the wrong decision. Don’t do that to people. If I had to do it all over again, I’d tell the people around me.”

Openly talking about testing and treating gynecological and breast cancer is one of the best ways to help beat the dreaded diseases, said medical experts and cancer survivors on Monday, October 13, at MATC’s Downtown Milwaukee Campus.

About 150 MATC students, faculty and staff, along with community members, attended “Breaking the Silence,” a panel discussion presented by MATC’s Healthcare Pathway and office of Public Health during national Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“When it comes to our health, we shouldn’t be silent. We should talk about it,” MATC President Anthony Cruz said at the event. “It’s through conversation that we learn from others and through conversation we can inform others about our health. I encourage each of you to have conversations with your loved ones about their health and use resources.” More...
