Gratitude Pumpkins - A Message of Thanks

Island Primary Care – Orcas has been embracing the month of November by noting what we’re thankful for each day. Our Gratitude Pumpkins in the clinic have been capturing everything our staff appreciates, from coffee to teamwork. We are also especially grateful for the Orcas community and the partners who have supported our transition this year. From Orcas Island Fire & Rescue to the Orcas Community Resource Center and the Orcas Island School District, we are grateful for your collaboration in caring for our residents and visitors. Daily expressions of gratitude may have many positive impacts on wellness, including increasing physical and mental health and improving relationships. New Island Primary Care - Orcas Provider

We are excited to announce the impending arrival of our new family medicine physician Dr. Robert Wilson. Dr. Wilson is a regionally based board certified family medicine physician with 25+ years of primary care and urgent care experience in a rural clinic setting. Dr. Wilson comes to us from Lopez Island and is excited to start working in the Clinic in March of 2022.

COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Island Primary Care – Orcas is offering primary and secondary COVID-19 vaccinations at in-clinic appointments. We continue to coordinate with San Juan County Health Department regarding COVID-19 boosters. Island Primary Care - Orcas is offering the flu vaccine in scheduled, clinic appointments. High dose flu vaccinations are available. Appointments are required, please call (360) 293-3101 to schedule.

Community Education's December Class Offerings

Community Education classes continue to be offered online at this time. All online classes at Island Hospital are free and require registration unless specifically stated in the class description. How to Navigate Injuries and Urgent Health Needs on Orcas Island

When you have an urgent health event, Island Primary Care - Orcas is here to care for you. If you're having a life threatening event such as a heart attack or stroke, call 9-1-1. During Clinic Hours: When you call ahead, our Access Center connects with a registered nurse on Orcas who will call you back to evaluate your condition and provide direction such as: Come to the Clinic immediately Specify a time to come to the Clinic to ensure you do not have to wait Assist with transportation or coordination with support person Direct you to 9-1-1 if the issue falls into the emergency category After Clinic Hours: If your urgent health event occurs after the Clinic is closed for the day and it is not life threatening, we ask that you call the Access Center at (360) 293-3101 or (360) 376-2561. You will be asked to provide relevant information and the on-call Island Hospital physician will return the call within 30 minutes to discuss the situation and provide advice. This could include being able to see the on-island provider who is on-call, when medically necessary. Island Primary Care - Orcas is open Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. Appointments are required for all visits.
