November 2021
Welcome to our LBPD Newsletter!

Earlier this month, LBPD partnered with the Long Beach Police Foundation, Long Beach Transit, and Long Beach Education Foundation to host Shop with a Cop! Officers and professional staff enjoyed volunteering their time to shop with 100 students from Webster Elementary School. Each child received a $100 gift card to spend on toys, clothes, school supplies, and more. We are extremely grateful for our community partners for making Shop with a Cop possible!
East Division Neighborhood Walks
Over the last two months, our East Patrol Division Neighborhood Walks team have been stepping out of their patrol cars, walking through neighborhoods, and connecting with community members to discuss their concerns and build partnerships.

The neighborhood walks program will continue through December. If you see our officers in your neighborhood, come say hello!
Mothers Against Drunk Driving
On Saturday, November 6, LBPD personnel volunteered and participated in the “Walk Like MADD” 5K. This event raised funds and awareness for the victims of drunk and drugged driving—including Aiden Gossage, the son of LBPD employee Greg Gossage. Through this event, local community members banded together to take a stand against a preventable and careless crime.
Law Enforcement Torch Run
Earlier this month, our officers hit the ground running to participate in this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run to support Special Olympics athletes and raise awareness.
On the Patrol Beat
In response to recent organized commercial robberies and burglaries occurring in other cities, we have increased our visibility and have had officers walking in business and entertainment areas.
In early November, officers were dispatched to a report of a battery in progress. Officers quickly responded to the scene and contacted a victim who had been assaulted by a group of suspects. Officers located the suspects nearby, being detained by CSULB Police, and through further investigation, discovered two of the suspects were in possession of firearms. Through their great work, East Division officers arrested the suspects and took two more firearms off our Long Beach streets.
Law Enforcement Records and Support Personnel Day
November 9th was Law Enforcement Records and Support Personnel day and we were thrilled to take the opportunity to recognize, celebrate, and thank our Records Division team for their continued dedication and service to our community!
