Long Beach Transit Salutes Veterans

Long Beach Transit (LBT) salutes military veterans both in the communities we serve and on the LBT team. LBT has 44 employees who proudly served in the U.S. Armed Forces. To all those who have served and those who continue to serve, Happy Veterans Day!

Attention Students and Parents!

On November 2, 2021, the LBT Board of Directors voted to adopt the LBT GoPass for students, an initiative to provide bus transportation to students.

What does this mean?
  • The program will assist K-12 and community college students with transportation via Long Beach Transit.
  • Students must have an LBT GoPass TAP card to ride the system. The program will be open to students from participating schools only.
  • The program is expected to be implemented in the next few months.
  • Existing student customers should continue using their student TAP cards or cash fare to ride LBT until the program is implemented and they receive a new LBT GoPass TAP card from their school.

LBT will be sharing more information on the steps required for students to join the program in the coming weeks. Stay up to date on this initiative and learn more at ridelbt.com/students.

First Street Transit Gallery Public Art Installation

Long Beach Transit does more than connect communities and move people; it also supports local artists by giving them an opportunity to exhibit their artwork!

LBT has dedicated the First Street Transit Gallery as a destination for artists to proudly showcase their artwork. Every quarter, the gallery displays new art installations from local artists. This quarter, the exhibited art is from talented CSULB photography students, who captured different experiences through their camera lenses.
You can learn more about these artists and check out their work by stopping by the First Street Transit Gallery on Pine Ave. and 1st St. or by visiting ridelbt.com/art.

Juan Quintana is a Bus Operator who joined LBT five years ago. He currently drives Routes 21, 22 and 23 along Cherry Avenue. Having learned how to drive a bus for the first time with LBT, Juan thanks the incredible trainers who educate and equip new Bus Operators to be successful.
LaShawn Stanley has been a Long Beach Transit customer for 17 years. She started riding LBT when she joined the City of Long Beach and became eligible for an employee-subsidized bus pass. Initially, LaShawn only used LBT to get to work and back home, but after seeing how convenient it was, she started riding more frequently.
