Friendship is the virtue the children will emulate during the month of November. Using “The Children’s Book of Virtues” the children will learn what the virtue is and how to be a friend.
True friendship is about trusting one another. They like you for the
you. As humans we are never perfect, but a true friend still likes you because that’s what makes you,
Most importantly, our friends trust us, like us, comfort us, understand us, and strengthen us, even—and especially—when we can’t do any of those things for ourselves. It is their belief in us that keeps us going, even when they are not right there to comfort us. Be sure to ask your child about the friendship activity they are doing in their classroom this month.
God Make My Life a Little Light
~ Friends give of themselves. ~
God make my life a little light
Within the world to glow;
A little flame that burneth bright,
Wherever I may go.
God make my life a little flower
That giveth joy to all,
Content to bloom in native bower,
Although the place be small.
God make my life a little staff
Whereon the weak may rest,
That so what health and strength I have
May serve my neighbors best.
~ M. Bentham-Edwards
As Saint Paul reminds us, “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”
Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!
