Sensus helps public service providers, including utilities and cities, reach farther by doing more with their infrastructure to improve quality of life. With operations on five continents and headquarters in Raleigh, Sensus enables utilities and consumers to make the most of our finite water and energy resources. The company's commitment to quality of life extends to its employees. In 2015, the company launched its employee giving campaign at its locations across the United States. Beginning in 2016, Sensus employees will participate in volunteer, team-building activities with EarthShare nonprofits in their local areas. As part of its annual Sensus Reach SM Conference, the company also provided its customers with the opportunity to support four EarthShare nonprofits working across the country. Thank you Sensus!
TIAA-CREF  was founded on a commitment to serve those who serve others. They specialize in meeting the distinctive financial needs of those who work in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields. Philanthropy and service are core values at TIAA-CREF, reflected in their robust charitable giving campaign and service program. Pictured below: a group of TIAA-CREF employees blazed a new trail at Carolina Raptor Center as part of TIAA-CREF Service Days, September 2015. Thank you!

Join us for our second annual Corporate Earth Day Events in April. The three events include the Corporate Challenge (a volunteer project that is a competition between corporate teams), the After Party & Auction, and the Earth Day Breakfast. These are unique opportunities to celebrate Earth Day as a company and support local nonprofits that care for our water, air, land and wildlife.  See the Earth Day Events webpage  for  more information about how your company can become a sponsor, plus  pictures and a video from the 2015 Earth Day Events.
Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation has been hard at work this fall.

The photo here shows a few of the forty-five volunteers who participated in the Wateree Riversweep September 19th. Together they removed 3,400 pounds of trash from Lake Wateree! Cleanups are just one aspect of Catawba Riverkeeper's work. They monitor  the health of the river and  pollution (primarily from construction, industry, and power plants); alert the public to issues that impact drinking water, swimming, boating and fishing; advocate for water protections; and provide recreation opportunities through programs like their Fall Leaf Eco-Tour and youth kayaking trips. See their website and Facebook page for a wealth of information on how they protect the Catawba River-- a drinking water source and economic driver that is also one of the country's most stressed and endangered rivers.

Explore eco-friendly storage solutions for holiday leftovers.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency,  household waste increases by more than 25% between  Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day. We can reduce some of that waste by changing how we store leftovers. Although aluminum foil is recyclable, some recycling centers do not accept it. Swap yo ur foil and plastic wrap for resusable containers. Any container will do, but there are many cool new products  available to help wrap and store food with less waste.

Look for local ingredients.

Visit your local farmer's market or check the grocery store label to find fruits, veggies, and dairy products from your local region. You'll support local farms and know your ingredients didn't contribute additional pollution from transportation. NC produces many seasonal ingredients like sweet potatoes and cooking greens. See  these  fun recipes   from SEEDS.
