2025 Holiday Drive

We are excited to announce our 2025 Holiday Drive! This season, we are coming together as a community to support families in need by collecting school supplies, backpacks, warm gloves, scarves, and hats.

Last year, we supported 60 families with food boxes, school bags and supplies, toys and winter clothes!

Many families in our community are facing challenges this winter, and even small acts of kindness can make a big difference. By donating, you’ll help provide kids with the essentials they need for school and help families stay warm during the colder months.

Here’s how you can help:

Donate: Bring or send new school supplies, backpacks, gloves, scarves, or hats at Division Midway Alliance on Fridays from 9:00am-5:00pm until November 21st (If those time doesn't work for you, please reach out to Julia@divisionmidway.org)

You can donate $25 , $50 or $100

Boys & Girls Aid - Join the Family

In the late 1800s, Portland faced a crisis of homeless and abandoned youth who had little support. At the time, these vulnerable children were met with scant compassion; the common response was to incarcerate or institutionalize them. However, our founder, Thomas Lamb Eliot, refused to give up on these kids. In 1885, he rallied Portland’s leaders to establish the Boys & Girls Aid Society of Oregon, taking legal custody of at-risk youth and placing them in private foster homes to provide the care and stability they desperately needed.

For 140 years and counting, Boys & Girls Aid’s foster parents have upheld this compassionate legacy — transforming countless lives and creating a better world, one child at a time. The profound impact of providing a stable, supportive home to a youth navigating the foster care system is difficult to capture in words. Beyond well-documented improvements in education and career outcomes, our foster parents give children the love and consistency they need to form lasting relationships and achieve a secure future. Few acts of service can change a life so completely — and right now, more than ever, we need dedicated foster parents to help make that difference.

By becoming a foster parent with Boys & Girls Aid, you can provide the foundation that empowers a child to thrive and lead a fulfilling life. We offer extensive support to all of our foster parents, including 24/7 staff support, financial assistance, and paid time off when needed. Whether you can commit to a full-time placement or just a few days each month, we have options that can fit your schedule.

You have the power to change a child’s life.

What to expect:

• Brief review of 2024 election data and outcomes

• Community questions and feedback

• Voter services we can provide

Where: Midland Library

When: Saturday, November 15th

Portland's 2045 Transportation System Plan

The Transportation System Plan (TSP) is the 20-year plan to guide transportation projects, programs, policies, and investments in Portland.

Community Advisory Committee (CAC) second meeting recap: At their second meeting, 2045 TSP CAC members participated in an Appreciative Inquiry process and then collaborated on a Wish Wall where they grouped their wishes for Portland's transportation system with one another's related wishes. While staff still need to craft draft goals from the CAC's wishes, the presentation and meeting notes are now available on the Meeting 2 webpage.

Their 2045 TSP Vision and Goals development is using an Appreciative Inquiry process to guide us to a motivating future by identifying and amplifying what works well within our transportation system rather than just fixating on what is wrong.

Now it's your turn, Portland!

We invite you to start by thinking about some of the best times you’ve had getting around Portland or related to our transportation system. Then consider what that positive experience might mean about what you deeply value. Finally, consider what it makes you wish for the future of Portland’s transportation system.

Your feedback will not only directly shape the plan Vision and Goals but will serve as a reservoir of community values that staff will return to throughout the two-year process to help guide and direct the update. Your project team will report back to participants on the collective results of the survey and how all feedback was considered and integrated, as applicable.

Recruitment: Multnomah County’s FY 26-27 Community Budget Advisory Committees (CBAC)

No budgeting or financial expertise is necessary! CBACs are groups of community members that review and make recommendations on county departmental budgets and operations. Meetings are focused on the bigger picture - understanding the county's programs and services, discussing challenges and opportunities that departments are considering in their budget process, and providing input on key budget decisions for the next year.

Applicants select the top three department or office CBACs that most align with their interests and experience. Departments select participants based on application answers and, often, an interview. Once selected, CBAC members will hear directly from department directors and frontline staff about county programs and services. Working in a cohort model, CBAC members co-create and present recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners near the end of the budget cycle.

Apply by December 5th to be considered in this round of applications.
