In light of the expected pause to the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beginning November 1, 2025, please see below for more information on TCOA resources to support older adults who may be struggling to access food.

Carry-Out Meals (COM) Program for Seniors

Purpose: To serve older adults who are economically or socially disadvantaged and may not qualify for Home-Delivered Meals (HDM) or who are unable or prefer not to attend congregate (group) dining sites and who are experiencing access issues to healthy nutritious food.

Carry-Out Meals are designed to provide seniors healthy, well-balanced nutrition:

  1. To older adults with an occasional need for carry-out meals.
  2. To older adults with a regular need, based on an individualized assessment, with priority given to those in greatest economic and social need.

Eligibility Requirements

Eligible referrals must:

  • Be 60 years of age or older, and complete the required registration.
  • Be the spouse (of any age) of an eligible participant.
  • Be family members with disabilities who live permanently with the eligible older adult in a non-institutional setting.
  • People with disabilities living in senior housing that provides congregate nutrition services.
  • Complete the required registration.

Those eligible will receive clear instructions for how and when to pick up meals. The meal recipient may also designate a proxy person to pick up their meals if needed.

For more information or to make a referral, contact the Tri-County Office on Aging Nutrition Program at 517-242-2547.

Let Us Know Your Thoughts!

The Tri-County Office on Aging is conducting a needs assessment to reach Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham County residents.

The goal is to connect with our community to discuss the availability of programs and services for older adults, adults with disabilities, and their caregivers at a local level. This information will help shape the agency’s Multi-Year Plan objectives and activities for 2027-2029.

We welcome residents to share their opinions, interests and needs related to issues such as transportation, housing, daily needs, and access to information and resources.

Share your thoughts through the survey (open through November 15).

Details, Community Conversation dates, and additional surveys are posted on our website: tcoa.org/about/.

Volunteer Spotlight

A headshot of Beth

The Volunteer Spotlight for November is... Beth, a Dining Site Volunteer!

"Hello, I’m Beth, and I’m a current volunteer with TCOA dining sites. I like to spend time outdoors through running, camping, and walking my dog. I also enjoy volunteering because I feel strongly about building up and being a part of my community. The dining sites provide a place for people to spend time together, and they create a sense of community through food. Spending time here is so fulfilling! TCOA is very easy to join and find information about. There are so many places to volunteer - hope to see you around!"

Thank you, Beth, for serving up meals and serving up smiles with the TCOA Dining Site Program!

For more information about volunteering please contact us at volunteer@tcoa.org or apply at tcoa.org/volunteer.
