Message From the President
The Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Services held their 105 th Annual Meeting on Thursday, October 24, 2019. Every year two awards are presented at this event. The Outstanding Citizenship Award is given to honor an individual who has proven himself/herself to be outstanding among his/her peers in the areas of professional competence, civic contribution and personal qualities. This year’s recipient was Steve Shuff, Judge, Common Pleas Court II.
The Women’s Career Excellence Award honors individuals who strive toward the highest levels of professional accomplishment…women and men, who excel in their chosen field, have devoted time and energy to their community in a meaningful way, and who also open paths so that others may follow.
The 2019 recipient was Kathy Oliver, Seneca County Department of Jobs & Family Services.
The keynote speaker was Lydia Mihalik, Director, Ohio Development Services Agency.

Congratulations to our 2019 Award winners!

Looking Ahead to Christmas
Every year, it seems to come earlier even though the date is always the same. Christmas is always on December 25. The month of October is barely over, and Christmas is popping out in the retail world and several television channels! While we can’t change this, we hope that you will take some time to enjoy November, especially Thanksgiving. This holiday is getting lost but take the time to remember what it represents. Spend time with family and friends - relax and be thankful for the good things in our lives.
Then, when Thanksgiving has passed, take a deep breath and dive right into the Christmas season.
Once again, Seneca County will be busy with many activities to help celebrate the season. The Christmas Tree Lighting is Friday, December 6 at 5:15 pm. Please join us for this annual event, hear the “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, live music and see the Christmas lights come on!
There are three Christmas activities planned for Sunday, December 1: Operation Elf, Reino’s Lunch with Santa and St. Francis Live Nativity. There are several Christmas themed events taking place in November. The Downtown Tiffin businesses are having a window contest which begins on November 30 and ends on December 5. The winner will be announced at the Christmas Tree Lighting.
Please see the attached brochure for more activities and visit tiffinchamber.com or destinationsenecacounty.org to learn about events that have been added after it was printed.
For more information, please visit our Community Calendar , which has complete and up-to-date information on all these events. We hope to see you there!
Fall In Love With Seneca County & Scarecrow Fun!
The Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce and the Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Services want to thank everyone that participated in the Fall In Love With Seneca County and Scarecrow Fun! We want to thank Christie Wiser for giving us the idea of inviting Scarecrows to Seneca County!
We appreciate the hard work that you put into the events and Scarecrows. We hope the events and Scarecrows put some fun in everyone’s fall season. We plan to invite the Scarecrows back in 2020. Save the date for the Fall In Love With Seneca County on Saturday, October 10, 2020. We were told about 65 Scarecrows and know there were many more out in the community. We are working on a scrapbook for the Scarecrows that sent us pictures; once it is finished, it will be posted online.
A big thank you to everyone that planned events and created Scarecrows! Also, we want to send a thank you to everyone that attended an event and those that went to see all the Scarecrows!
