Cobb County Code Amendments – October 2023:
ECCA (Ric Grome and Jill Flamm) have spoken with the Planning Commission and
Cobb County Board of Commissioners (BOC) three times concerning code amendments with final hearing on October 25th.
The sections of code being modified that concerned us were section 50 on Environment and 134 on Zoning.
In section 50-76 concerning stormwater and permitting, we recommended that a sentence be added that no land disturbance permit be granted until any Open Space/ Conservation property was turned over to Cobb County. Staff determined that this item needed to go under Subdivisions in the Code and would be looked at the next cycle of amendments. This was supported by the Commissioners.
Also, in section 50-258 the noise ordinance, our recommendations concerning the
continual running of generators, adding pressure washers under landscape equipment and the removal the new section of code allowing construction on Sunday were also approved by the Commissioners.
In section 134 the summary chart of zoning categories was updated to reflect the code. At ECCA’s continued insistence, with support and modifications from Staff and a Commissioner, a new section was approved and added to section 134 addressing EV charging stations.
