The library is holding its Annual Food For Fines Drive!
If you have overdue fines on your account, you can clear them this November while providing food for those in need in our community.
Donations will go to the St. John Paul II Food Pantry for distribution.
Each non-perishable food item donated will clear $1.00 in existing overdue fines, for up to $10.00 per card holder. Please note that no damaged or expired food items will be accepted, and credit cannot be applied toward fees for lost or damaged books.
Please bring your donations to the Information Desk so that we can credit your account!

My Southbridge: An Interpretation

In celebration of the Town of Southbridge's Bicentennial, the Jacob Edwards Library is pleased to host an exhibit of original artwork and literature that shows Southbridge through the eyes of its residents!
Paintings, photographs, poems, short stories, abstract expressions...anything goes was our motto! We hope that you will stop by to view this unique exhibit, and see Southbridge through someone else's point of view.

Dedication of the Felix Gatineau Walking Cane
Saturday, November 12

11:30 am
Thanks to Dr. James Martel and the Gatineau Family for donating Felix Gatineau's walking cane to the library. It will be part of the Gatineau archive at the library and is mounted by the Reference Desk on the opposite wall to the bronze bas relief by sculptor
Lucien H Gosselin (1883-1940).
A reception will take place on Saturday November 12th at 11:30 a.m. and light refreshments will be served. All welcome!

Fishing the Quabbin Area
Thursday, November 17

6:30 pm
Join master fisherman Allan Butler as he discusses the best spots for fishing in the Quabbin Area!
Allan will talk about the different varieties of fish you can catch, where to find them, and the best techniques - whether you're out on the water, on the shore, or ice fishing this winter!
This program is supported by a grant from the Southbridge Cultural Council, a local agency with is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.

Every Thursday
We will provide the magazines, glue, scissors, and crayons, you supply the ideas and creativity! Drop in any time on Thursdays to cut, paste, and craft a collage creation!

Stop by the Children's Room any time on Wednesdays to do
a special craft. This is a drop-in program that runs all day. Simply stop by the Children's Room desk to get your craft supplies, and take home a masterpiece.

We'll bring the LEGO bricks, you bring the ideas! This is a drop-in program, so there is no need to register. Best for children over 5.

Stargaze with our Telescope!
The library now has a telescope which can be checked out and taken home - just like a book. Use it to spend a night stargazing in your own back yard! Who knows what you will see?
Instructions and tips on what to look for are included. Must be checked out by an adult 18 or older.

Looking for free eBooks? Look no further than the library! You can download FREE ebooks to your computer or device, as well as digital audiobooks.
To browse our main collection,
click here. On your device, download the Overdrive app to get started.
We also now have some new collections, thanks to a statewide eBook project, Commonwealth Collections.
Axis 360 provides more popular options, similar to Overdrive.
Biblioboard is great for homework and research, and also has a great collection of 'For Dummies' titles available.

Credit cards update
Due to a change in
C/W Mars policy, we can no longer accept credit cards over the desk as payment for overdue fees
and/or lost books.
If you wish to pay your fines by credit card, you may do so by logging into your
online account.
All in-person transactions must be cash or personal check. We apologize for any inconvenience.
