Nov. 3 - Dr. Emma Wakefield-Paillet Marker Unveiling - Celebrate the life and legacy of Emma Wakefield-Paillet, MD with a day of festivities. At 10 a.m., the state historic marker will be unveiled at Bouligny Plaza accompanied with the reading of an original poem by Dr. Darrell Bourque, Louisiana Poet Laureate, and singing. At 11 a.m., a reception will be held at the Iberia Parish Courthouse where an original work of art will be on display. At 2 p.m., an original composition and play will be performed at the Essanee Theater. Those attending the unveiling are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as seating will be limited.
