"This has been a year when more of us have been in need of an extended hand in different ways and on different levels. I have heard from some of you how much the farm, as a space, has meant to you this season in particular. Although we have been extremely limited in hosting visitors and volunteers on-farm, it has been real heart-work to send as much food as we can off-site to provide some level of nourishment to our neighbors in need of assistance. We are truly grateful for this land."
-Erinn Roberts, Farm Manager

Great news! On Thursday, November 5th, the Massachusetts House passed a bill transferring the UMass Field Station land to the City of Waltham! The final steps in this process will be a roll call vote in the Massachusetts Senate, and then onto Governor Baker's desk for approval. Thank you to everyone who has advocated for us, supported us, and followed along this journey. Special thank you to Representative John Lawn and Representative Tom Stanley. We're ALMOST there! For more information on the sale of 240 Beaver Street, please go here.

We'd like to extend a heartfelt WELCOME to WFCF's new board members for 2021:

WFCF’s Farm Day went virtual this year. We regret that due to the ongoing COVID pandemic, we couldn't gather with you — our faithful farm friends — as we have each year for the past decade. So, we invite you to check out our first ever “Virtual Farm Day,” with a video celebrating the history of the land we farm and love.

Last chance! We need to make our fundraising goal by December 1! Please consider making a donation to a member of Team WFCF and support hunger relief through access to local agriculture. We're just under $1,600 away from our goal of $11,000, but we need your support to get us to the finish line! If we do not meet this goal, we risk not receiving our full donations in return! Donations can be received through December 1. Donate to Team WFCF today!

2. Support WFCF's 2020 Annual Appeal! Donate to WFCF today and help us hold fast to our mission as we work through the challenges of this time. Any amount you choose to donate will be put to good use. Donate now!

We are closing out the year with a few more seasonal programs! As we continue to pivot along with the global and national events of this new decade, we hope to remain connected to our community with programs both on-site and online to meet varying needs and comfort levels of our families.

Wintertime Botanical Drawing with Erica Beade - last session of this seasonal 4-part series - online Saturday, December 12th.

Remote and On-Site Winter Programs in the Learning Garden will open for registration on December 1st! Program announcements will be made on our website here.
WFCF in the Community

Our Mobile Outreach Market has concluded for the year, and we couldn't have done it without your help! This was our 13th season, which we marked by distributing over $45,138 worth of produce, with an average box value of $33.65. That's an increase of 33% over 2019! And to ensure that no family went without, we operated this year's outreach as a FREE program for all recipients.

As of the end of October, our total weight of food donations is nearly 10% higher than this time last year: 28,117 lbs this year compared to 26,764 lbs last year. We will soon share year-end updates on our total donations. We couldn't do this vital work without your support, so thank you! If you'd like to support our efforts to expand food access in our Waltham community and beyond, please click here.

Ways To Help Our Community This Holiday Season

Food Not Bombs Waltham is looking for donations of CLEAN used and new blankets, adult winter coats, adult gloves, and NEW pairs of socks to help our community members struggling with homelessness this winter. Please bring clean/washed donations with you to your next CSA pick up on November 21st or December 5th, and place them in the designated box outside the distribution barn.

Food Not Bombs also makes and distributes vegan meals to our unhoused neighbors once a week. If you'd like to donate any of the vegetables in your CSA share in the remaining weeks, there will also be a box set up outside the barn during distribution designated for produce to contribute to these meals.

WFCF is looking for a graphic designer interested in providing their expertise in exchange for a 20-week summer and flower CSA share! We need someone who can create collateral such as posters and programs for our annual fundraiser, as well as signage and flyers for additional events. If you are interested in this position, or would like details, please review the requirements here.
