In November at Yoga Mind Li we bring our attention and focus to spreading the Attitude of Gratitude! Join us as we practice expressing gratitude to our family, friends, neighbors, ourselves, all sentient beings, and to this beautiful life sustaining planet EARTH.
The practice of gratitude is a great time to put into action the first of the Four Agreements. Be Impeccable With Your Word.  This means to speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others, and use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.
Words matter! They have the power to ignite or extinguish, empower or enslave, to mobilize or debilitate. When we realize the weight of power of our spoken words, we become mindful of each utterance released from our lips. We acknowledge and respect the energy and actions our words set into motion.
Some ways to bring into union the practice of gratitude and the First Agreement.
Gratitude Journal:
Take out those Gratitude Journals/Jars: Every day write down an expression of gratitude. What and Who are you grateful for and Why? <3
On our mats
Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or in comparison to others. This means the self talks in your head too. Be intentional about what you think and say in your inner talk. Choose words and phrases that nourish and encourage peace, love, and gratitude. Remember to take a moment to reflect and be grateful for your time on the mat. A great way to send gratitude to others is to offer your practice to someone/something else.
In our homes
When expressing gratitude, say only what you mean. An authentic expression of gratitude is truly a gift. This month try shifting your focus on an abundance of “thank you’s” to setting your intention on authentic and complete expressions of gratitude and love. 
When you say "thank you" to your loved ones:
  • Acknowledge what they did
  • Acknowledge the effort or sacrifice it required 
  • Share how it made you feel
In our communities
Use the power of your words in the direction of truth and love. In all forms of media and in our social settings, there are an abundance of messages to remind us of all the ways we are divided. Be the voice that reminds us how we are all parts of the same whole. Let your words be only that of truth and love.

Pose of the month: semi-supine position

Go ahead, lie back and give yourself a Hug!

This semi-supine position is sure to give your spine just what it needs to release and let go of the tension and stress housed in your back body. As you walk your feet a bit wider than your hips, the knees can soften in towards each other making space for the lower lumbar spine/sacral/pelvic/hip area to drop into the earth. Exhale and allow it all to RELEASE.

Wrapping yourself up in a hug is so comforting and calming to your body and mind. These days we see our friends, family, and community but are limited to the amount of human contact we can safely have. I don’t know about you but that makes my heart feel almost too heavy to hold. So this is my go to pose. When I hug myself I am hugging EVERYONE! Gratitude in its highest form.
