THE KNIGHT CAP - Council 5150
Knights !

The nights and days kept Council 5150 busy this year! Our Brothers were a big part of the Trunk Or Treat event at St. Charles on October 29th, responsible for cooking and serving hot dogs, as well as helping CCW to serve desserts and drinks for all of the St. Charles Parishioners. It was much fun, with a huge turnout of kids and costumes of all ages...... two of them below!

40 Days of Life - 2019

Council 5150 participated in the 40 Days of Life Campaign, by joining a Prayer Vigil at the Maitland Life Choices facility on October 27th.
Knight's Of The Month - November
This month, we honor our Brother Randy Jones for the Knight of the Month, and the family of Randy Jones for the Knights' Family of the Month.

The 5150 was so blessed to have Randy as an active Brother as he was always ready to help with every event, such as our Annual Golf Tournament or any time that the Council wished to order logo items. He and his family have given constant support 5150, and he will be very much missed. May God draw him close and keep him near.

We are very blessed to have Larry Jones join our Council in November, which was accomplished mainly thru Randy's consistent and insistent encouragement to Larry. Randy's contributions to the Council seem to just continue to be offered..........

Message from Grand Knight:

Vivat Jesus Brothers !

What a wonderful month November was, as we were truly blessed to welcome 9 new members to Council 5150 in our First Degree ceremony on Wednesday, November 20th. We had the "Pro Degree Team" from St. Francis, who volunteered to bring their talents to our Council for the night. It was a wonderful evening and it is so nice to have new members to share new ideas and enthusiasm to our Council's future. Thanks be to God first, and to all the many Brothers that helped recruit these candidates as well as prepared the Knights Hall and a wonderful dinner for the attendees. There are so many to thank, but I will highlight the work of Past Knights Kenny Polster as well as Jerry Brady, Ed Conklin and Richard Brown. They were so active in the recruiting and planning of this event and I am so very grateful.

October was a busy month for the items listed above in the newsletter, but I also want to make note of the Knights Citizenship Essay Contest, of which the schools of St. Charles, St. Andrews and Bishop Moore had great participation. We had nearly 50 entries to the contest, and Council 5150 will be awarding cash gift cards and KOC Certificates to essays that were judged to be Best of School and to the Overall first, second and third place winners. Interestingly, there were two separate judging (scoring) sessions for these awards, which was performed by professional and independent teachers. As it turned out there were different candidates that won Best Of School and Best Overall and all three schools were represented in the Best Overall. Although I was somewhat surprised by the outcome, I think it all worked out for the best, as our Council will have the opportunity to reward a total of 5 different candidates for their fine efforts at this contest.

With our calendar year quickly coming to an end, we take time to celebrate 2019 and all that the Council has accomplished at our upcoming Christmas Party. We look forward to the possibility of seeing many of our past members visit for the festivities. Perhaps...we may even have a surprise guest or two. You never know, and I am not telling! Got to come to the party to see who that may be! For another cliffhanger, we will be announcing the Knight of the Month for December at the Christmas Party, instead of the Council meeting. This is to show the importance of this individual to our Council. Whom might that be ????? Come to the party to find out! Look forward to seeing you!!!

But.....before that, we have Thanksgiving. I am sure you will agree that we all have so much to be thankful for. I know it is a busy time for all of us, but please consider taking some time to assist in the set-up for the Thanksgiving Dinner at St. Andrews, which will be Wednesday evening starting at 6pm ( I know that conflicts with the St. Charles Pie Social....but if you can't make one event, consider going to the other) and help serve Thanksgiving lunch starting at noon on Thanksgiving Day. This will be at the St. Andrews meeting/kitchen hall and will help the needy of the community.

I sincerely wish all of our Knight Brothers, and their families, a most blessed Thanksgiving Holiday and a truly wonderful Christmas Season. Remember to Keep Christ in your Holidays and please stay safe.

Michael Forster, GK
