Grow RI Native Seeds


Our mission is to empower Rhode Islanders to grow and champion native plants via seeds and information resources organized by their local libraries. There are 14 participating libraries encouraging patrons to grow and save native seeds. We currently have seeds available for winter sowing or cold-moist stratification.

Tales from Hollywood

Wednesday Nov. 6th- 3:00pm


Join us for a presentation by Bob Perlow as he discusses the tv shows that he worked on with a history of how they started and how and why they ended when they did. Bob will dwell on the most popular shows such as Taxi, Cheers, Newhart, Friends and more. The presentation will include videos, photos and music from his personal collection during his 35 years in the tv industry.

AZ and Me: My Partner's Journey w/ Alzheimer's

Thursday, Nov. 7th- 6:30pm


Colleen Kelly Mellor presents and speaks to audiences demonstrating how to survive—and even THRIVE—in life’s demanding situations. The discussion will focus on her book Az and Me: A Partner’s Journey with Alzheimer’s, which reflects on her 10+ years as sole caregiver to her husband diagnosed with this cognitive disease. Despite the challenging topics, author and guest speaker Mellor injects humor into her stories.

Arts & Culture in Native American Tribes

Thursday, Nov. 14th- 5:00pm


Join us for a presentation on the significance of art and other artifacts from Native American tribes! This presentation is done in collaboration with our local Tomaquag Museum. Come learn about local history, get a chance to see some of the items up close, and ask questions! All ages are welcome to attend.

Miss Rhode Island's Family Storytime!

Tuesday, Nov. 5th- 5:30pm


Families with children ages 0-10 are invited to meet current Miss Rhode Island Ali Hornung and listen to her read her book "Hope Has No Hair". "The story follows Hope, a young girl, who is battling cancer and has reached the day she is going to shave her head. Through the book she explores the concept of true beauty and finding emotional support in her family and friends." Join us in welcoming Miss. Ali!

Europa Clipper: Space Exploration!

Saturday, Nov. 16th- 10:00am


Children in grades K-5 are invited to join us to learn about the recent launch of the Europa Clipper to explore whether one of Jupiter's moons (called Europa) can sustain life under it's surface! Ms. Eva Gallant from the Solar System Ambassadors will tell us about the rovers work on Jupiter, and show us how to make our own DIY Rover craft. If there is time, she will also show us how to make a paper plate alien!
