FIELD INVESTIGATOR CORNER
This is a new feature of our newsletter - each month we will focus on one of our Field Investigators.
Welcome to our Newest Field Investigator Trainee
Chris LaCour from Riverside, Missouri
(North of Kansas City):
Q. How did you become interested in doing investigations for MUFON?
A.I was introduced to MUFON through the History channel. While I have always been interested in UFO's, and have seen things that cannot be easily or readily explained, there was no one I could easily or safely talk to about it. It took about 10 seconds for me to understand that there is no way I could be alone in that feeling. As a result, becoming someone who can help to find the truth, while at the same time help people explain things that they cannot explain, appeals to me greatly.
Q. When did you join MUFON?
A. In early 2020.
Q. When did you become a Field Investigator for MUFON?
A. October 2020. I am currently a trainee and I am waiting to work on my first investigation.
Q. What do you enjoy most about being involved with Missouri MUFON?
A. The comfort level with being able to discuss things that are not typically acceptable. even in my own family.
Q. Have you had your own sightings? If so, what did you see?
A. Yes I have. About 10 years ago while I was driving home in Connecticut. Stuck at a red light at a 4 way stop light, there were no other cars visible in any direction. It was about 10:00 pm. My wife was in the passenger seat. When the light turned green something flitted across the road about 15 feet in front of our car. Whatever it was, it was dimly illuminated by both my headlights and the green of the stop light. It was about 15 feet tall and 10 feet wide. If you could imagine a large bed sheet being blown by the wind. It rippled and flew across the road in front of us far faster than any wind could have been blowing. We both saw it, and it was in and out of our field of vision far faster than anything we had ever seen before. It moved far faster than a motorcycle or any other ground vehicle could have moved, and was completely silent. It was also partially translucent, with our headlights appearing to shine THROUGH whatever it was. As it disappeared from view, left to right, I was able to make out a slight, diminishing glow coming from whatever it was. So, to recap, a slightly glowing, somewhat translucent, silent, airborne object, about 15 feet by 10 feet in size, sped by our car just a couple of car lengths in front of us at a speed that was so fast it was inexpiable.
It was there and gone so quickly that my wife and I did not speak of it openly for a few moments. We had driven about 100 yards, and while her head was still craned to the right out the window she said to me, "Ummm, did you see...-" "YES" I cut her off before she went any further. We didn't talk about it again until we got home. We confirmed that we had seen the same thing.
It was a long time ago, though. And she has now convinced herself that she didn't see anything. And just doesn't want to talk about it.
I still have no idea what it was. If it had been about 1/100 of it's speed, I would have guessed a huge, dirty plastic tarp. If it wasn't glowing in the dark, staying a few feet off the ground, and kept flying away in a straight line until it was out of sight, anyway.
That was the first time I had ever seen anything I couldn't readily explain, and found it exceedingly difficult to have rational conversations about it with just about anyone.
