NOVEMBER NEWS

β€œYou don't play against opponents, you play against the game of basketball."

Greetings T&C Families and Friends,

Well, it's hard to believe the fall season has already come to a close.

A special thank you to all of you who helped coach and volunteer your time to make this fall season another success.

For the most part, our campus will be closed over the next couple of months as we will be busy aerating and seeding the fields in preparation for spring play.

I would also like to thank everyone that came out to support our β€œHelp Every Kid Play” Bowling Tournament. This was our first ever fundraising bowling tournament and it turned out to be a big success and a lot of fun. So, if you missed it this year, I encourage you to sign up next time and come out and play with us.

This month we also had our first ever Trunk or Treat event. Although it looked like the rain may have dampened the fun, we still had lots of kids in costume enjoying the evening and having a great time. Definitely an event we will plan to do next year!

Our second annual Turkey Trot Fun Run is planned for the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I encourage you to come out and run off a few of those extra holiday calories.

With the campus closed most of the time over the next two months, our sports focus will turn to winter Basketball and Futsal starting after Thanksgiving. Good luck to our winter sport participants.

I hope you all have a very safe and happy holiday season and I look forward to seeing you on the court soon or out on campus in the spring!

Charity Bowling Tournament

The Town & Country Optimist Foundation is deeply grateful for the generosity of our tournament sponsors. Their financial contributions were essential in building the T&C Sports scholarship budget for 2024. This budget directly supports lower income kids to participate in T&C's youth leagues.  We sincerely thank these sponsors:

Bowling Tournament Wrap-up:

The T&C Optimist Foundation held its first-ever bowling tournament fundraiser on October 22nd at Highland Lanes. The proceeds directly fund T&C's scholarship budget for 2024 which enables kids from lower income families to play sports in T&C's youth leagues.

We are thrilled to say that the tournament was great fun for all who participated, and substantial proceeds were generated toward our 2024 scholarship budget. 72 bowlers on 19 teams competed for best (and worst) awards while also getting the chance to Beat the Pro (rolling against Highland Lanes staff), Beat the Optimist (in cornhole), and test their driving skills in Mario Kart Racing. We had a great mix of men, women, kids, families, friends and teammates, with lots of friendly competition.

We look forward to having more fun family events that support the cause of youth sports in Austin.

All the kids got bowling medals.

CAMPUS UPDATE

T&C is planting winter rye grass seed on all our fields and are taking them offline to allow the grass to grow for our Spring season.

We’ll be watering and fertilizing to get the best results we can. Think good weather thoughts for us. There will be limited access to the facility to discourage unauthorized use of our fields.

Hope everyone has a great Winter and returns to a green campus!
