Breakfast With SPARK
CFFRV Joined SPARK For Community Meeting

SPARK Aurora Early Childhood Collaboration was the winner of the Community Foundation's third quarter agency party drawing. SPARK invited the Foundation to its community meeting held on the morning of October 26, where the Community Foundation provided bagels, coffee and other breakfast refreshments. The community meeting was a great opportunity for the Foundation to meet with SPARK and hear about its progress and plans for the coming year.

The meeting was held at the Santori Library downtown Aurora. Michael Meyer, CEO of the Fox Valley United Way, began the meeting by thanking SPARK's volunteers and community partners, including the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. SPARK received a Foundation grant last fall to produce its 2016 calendar. Mr. Meyer introduced Community Foundation president Jeff Hartman who spoke briefly on behalf of the Foundation.

Mayor Tom Weisner
Mayor of Aurora Tom Weisner was present to speak about the importance of early childhood education, and how SPARK has been instrumental in providing services to young children and their families in Aurora. He noted that the future of Aurora depends on its children having access to quality education.

SPARK director Trish Rooney
The
meeting focused on SPARK's Shared Intake Initiative which "identifies and connects the highest need children to high quality early learning and development programs, services, and resources to provide families with one point of entry in seeking and applying for eligibility for various early childhood programs for their children."  Director of SPARK Trish Rooney lead the meeting, and r epresentatives from SPARK,  Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Hesed House, and World Relief participated in a panel discussion about the community's collaboration on the Shared Intake Initiative.

It was a pleasure for the Community Foundation to provide breakfast at the meeting. It was a small way of saying "thank you" to the agencies that are doing outstanding work for the children in our community!
