Mid-November Updates

Granville Residents,

With the end of year festivities and exam season approaching, we understand that your schedules may be filled with various tasks, projects, and commitments. Fear not! We're here to lend a helping hand and keep you informed about important updates and deadlines. We hope you have a wonderful break next week!

Sincerely,

Granville Towers Staff

Share your feedback so we can move forward!

The PULSE survey closes tomorrow (Friday, November 17)!

We want to know what you, our customers, perceive as our strengths and areas where we can improve.

What's in it for me?

You'll be entered to win a Granville-wide drawing for a WEEKEND PARKING PASS that you can use for the weekend of your choosing! (Yes, even GAME WEEKENDS!) The pass would be valid from 5:00PM that Friday to 8:00AM that Monday. The more people that fill out the survey, the more winners we'll choose! We are drawing winners this Friday at 4:00PM!

You'll also be entered to win ACC-wide monetary prizes, with a grand prize of $10,000 and 10 additional winners of $1,000!

How to find the survey:

Check your RESIDENT email (the email you received this on).

Look for an email from survey@americancampus.com with "Your Pulse Survey Invite!" as the subject, that was sent on Monday, November 6th at 11:19PM.

NO PURCHASE/PAYMENT NECESSARY. Open to ACC leaseholders. 18+ at sweepstakes start. 1 entry/person. Starts 11/6/23 and ends 11/17/23 at 11:59PM PST. Winner randomly selected/notified by email in 15 days. Additional restrictions apply. Alternate entry option described in Sweepstakes Official Rules at AmericanCampus.com/Pulse-Rules.

Get ready for FILTER and AC unit cleaning!

Next week, our maintenance staff will be coming around to clean your HVAC units. We need unobstructed access to this equipment. Please move any furniture or items that are placed on this section of the wall so that we are able to complete this process. East Tower will be done on Monday, South will be done on Tuesday, and West will be done on Wednesday.

Housekeeping Schedule Change

For the time being, we will be changing the housekeeping schedule to an as-requested basis. Residents who would like housekeeping will need to submit a maintenance request each week on the Resident Portal. Please note, residents will have to submit requests each time they would like housekeeping. Meaning, if you would like weekly housekeeping, you will need to submit one request per week.

Are you leaving in December? Let us know!

If you will not be enrolled at UNC for the Spring, the Leasing Office needs to know as soon as possible (and no later than November 20). We are fielding inquiries from individuals participating in the Carolina Global Launch program who wish to live here in the Spring and need to know how many spaces we have available.

Please send an email to tell us more about your cancellation reasons. We will follow up with you to finalize the lease termination paperwork, and to provide you with instructions for checking out of your room.

Submitting Maintenance Requests

Residents, when submitting a maintenance request through the portal, please provide as much detail as you can so we can address your concerns as quickly and efficiently as possible. Not sure how to submit a maintenance request? Check out this helpful video here!

Resident Advisor Hiring

Your Resident Advisor at Granville Towers works for Carolina Housing as part of our partnership with UNC.

Currently, the process of applying to serve as a Resident Advisor for the 2024/25 year is underway. When you apply to be an RA, you could be hired to work in one of UNC's many different residence hall settings throughout the campus.

To learn more about this exciting opportunity, please click here. All candidates are required to attend one of the mandatory info sessions listed. If you choose the virtual session, use this Zoom link.

Spring Payment Due December 1

All residents owe a payment on December 1. The Resident Portal will not display an amount due until December 1 when the charges hit the software. Make sure to consult your records to ensure you know what you owe and how to pay. You can see your amounts due on page 2 of your lease agreement, located in the Resident Portal. You can see how to make a payment here.

If you have requested a meal plan change, please consult your email from Susan Walker, our Bookkeeper, at swalker@americancampus.com to obtain the amount due.

The Business Office accepts checks, cashier’s checks, and money order payments. Cash is not accepted. The resident’s full name must be on the memo line of the payment.

  • Check payments need to be made payable to Granville Towers and can be mailed to:

Granville Towers Business Office

2100 Granville Towers Ln South

Chapel Hill, NC 27514

Note: The resident’s full name must be on the memo line.

  • eCheck and credit/debit card payments can be made on our website, granvilletowers.com. Access the Resident Portal by clicking on the three dots at the top of the page and selecting it from the dropdown menu, and log in.
  • From there, you can click on the “Make a payment” icon which takes you to American Campus Communities’ third party payment processing system, which is called Zego, powered by PayLease. The fees associated with making online payments are Zego's processing fees and are not collected or charged by Granville Towers/ACC. Zego accepts all major credit card providers.

For other questions, please feel free to call us at 919.370.4500 or email us at granvilletowers@americancampus.com.

Winter Break is Coming!

While Granville Towers does not close over the Winter Break period, our operations will be heavily reduced. We need every resident to complete the form linked here to share with us when they will be on site (if applicable). Finally, please note that you DO NOT need to turn in your room keys over the break. Only those students NOT returning for the Spring semester need to return keys.

Please note the following reminders regarding Winter Break:

  • Round the clock quiet hours begin at 10pm on Wednesday, December 6 and are in effect throughout the remainder of the exam period.
  • If you will be in your room at any point during the break, please make sure to complete the Extended Stay form here! We will place a "Room Occupied" sign on your door.
  • Both Granville Towers and Carolina Housing staff will be entering rooms to confirm the steps below (see "Before you go") have been completed.
  • All Granville offices will be closed from Monday, December 25-Tuesday, December 26, and on Monday, January 1. Staff availability may be limited on other days as well. South Desk will remain open during those times.

Before you go, please:

  • Close all windows and doors
  • Close blinds
  • Turn off all lights
  • Unplug all appliances EXCEPT your mini-fridge
  • Take out all trash and recycling from your room, especially perishable items.
  • Take valuables home (don't forget medication, ID, glasses/contacts, chargers, etc.)
  • Return any temp key cards
  • Check your mailbox in the basement of your tower. If mail is present that is addressed to someone else, please return to the Leasing Office so we can re-route it accordingly.
  • Pick up any packages from West Tower front desk/package center
  • Consider storing your bike in your room (but no motorized vehicles)
  • Remove any prohibited items

If you are in a DOUBLE occupancy room and currently DO NOT have a roommate OR if your current roommate is leaving at the conclusion of the Fall semester, remember that you need to leave one half of your room completely vacant (i.e. clean and ready to be occupied), including:

  • The second closet is not being used, including nothing in drawers/shelves/hanging
  • The second desk is not being used, including nothing on the surface/drawers
  • The second bookshelf is not being used
  • The second bed is not being used and no items are stored under it
  • There is available space in the vanity cabinet and on the vanity surface
