Third World Newsreel stands with all who are calling for a ceasefire and peace in the Middle East. The recent massacres and kidnappings of civilians were horrific. War against civilians is intolerable and is no solution. Over seven thousand people have died, almost half of them children, more thousands have been injured, and Gaza is without electricity and running out of food, water and medicine.

In an effort to counter the dehumanization of the Palestinian people that threads through the war coverage of major news outlets and official public discourse, Third World Newsreel will be joining numerous media centers and organizations in a coordinated day of global arts and media action, co-presenting screenings of Palestinian films on November 2nd, 2023. Please stay tuned as we will shortly announce the films and platforms that will be made available for free viewing. We will ask you to share the film series with your community and activate your voice to call for peace.

About Third World Newsreel (TWN)

Third World Newsreel receives support from the National Film Preservation Foundation to preserve its MISSISSIPPI TRIANGLE (1984), co-directed by Christine Choy, Worth Long and Allan Siegel, a film about race relations in the Delta among Black, Asian and white communities. Praised by scholar Scott Macdonald as “one of the more unusual collaborative experiments in the history of American independent cinema,” the film was made by three crews, each focused on—and represented by—a specific ethnicity.

Third World Newsreel continues to help grow our emerging and veteran BIPOC filmmaker community. If you attended any of our programs, watched our films, or believe in supporting BIPOC media makers, please consider making a donation to Third World Newsreel now. Donate directly via our webpage, twn.org

TWN is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the New York State Legislature, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the New York City Council, Color Congress, MOSAIC, the National Film Preservation Foundation, New York Humanities, Ford Foundation, Golden Globe Foundation, New York Community Trust, and the Peace Development Fund, as well as individual donors.
