Because of you,
Hospice Savannah has been here for four decades helping everyone in our community live more fully through caregiving, chronic illness, end-of-life, and bereavement. In that time, more than 15 for-profit hospices have entered the regional landscape. They rarely take indigent clients, cannot offer inpatient care, and provide only the basic required core services.
By comparison, above is a very beloved patient who was cared for in our in-patient Hospice House, and who really benefited from his weekly stretching exercises and healing massage from our licensed massage therapist Jordyn.
Thanks to you
, we have fulfilled our mission to provide the best care our community offers and, thanks to you, we will continue for 40 more in our celebration of The Art of Livng!(Read the list of last month's generous donors here).
27th Annual Tree of Light Gathering
On December 2 we will gather to share stories, music, reflection and candlelight to honor those we remember. Miranda Briggs, a young veteran whose husband is one of the 22 veterans who die by suicide every day, will be our guest speaker.
Miranda has received help from our
Full Circle Grief & Loss counselors and all donations support the free bereavement help they offer to anyone in our community. Find out more about Tree of Light and make a donation
at this link, and/or make a memorial page in honor of YOUR loved one
at this link. We hope you will join us on December 2.
Two Edel Cargiver Institute Events
If you are the caregiver for a family member with a serious illness, disability or dementia, we recognize how difficult it may be to leave them and attend our Institute's classes. Mark your calendar to join our Facebook Live event on Thursday, November 29 at 1:00p.m. when Kathy Schafer, PT, MBA, DPT (below) will take your questions in real time as she demonstrates how to change an occupied bed, and to safely move your loved one from bed to chair and from chair to tub, etc. Find this live event on Hospice Savannah's Facebook page.
Mac was given a serious and life-limiting diagnosis 28 years ago. He says the help he and his wife receive through the
Steward Center for Palliative Care"has been a real blessing to me." Listen to his story and help us share the good news that palliative care is available LONG before hospice care need be considered. Reach the Steward Center at 912-354-8014.
