2019 PBC Annual Meeting, November 14

The PBC Annual Meeting will be held on November 14th at Penfield Country Club and will feature presentations by several town leaders. Networking begins at 11:30 am. Members are encouraged to bring business cards as well as literature for the member information table.  Lunch and Program will be begin at 12:00 pm.

Tony LaFountain, Penfield Town Supervisor, and Jim Costello, Director of Economic Development for the Town of Penfield , will present the current state of economic development in Penfield and share upcoming projects on the horizon. Each of Penfield's business districts will be discussed during the presentation and there will be opportunity for Q&A at the end.  Additionally, Dr. Thomas Putnam, Penfield Superintendent of Schools , will give a "State of the Schools" presentation.
 
The Annual Meeting is also a time for the PBC to update members on new initiatives undertaken to provide more value to members. Elections for our Board of Directors will also be held. The slate of 2019-2020 candidates will be posted before the meeting, along with brief bios about each candidate. Candidate information will also be available at the meeting. There will also be a vote to approve updates to our Bylaws.

Only current PBC members may vote. New member applications and renewal forms are available on our website .

M  orning Spark on Monday, December 9, 8:00 - 9:00 am
Penfield Eastside YMCA will be hosting our Morning Spark. Join us for some holiday networking.  This event is an opportunity for members (and guests) to gather for informal networking and a cup of coffee.   Pop in before you head to the office. 

No reservations are required but an  email confirmation  is helpful, or you may RSVP by using the "Register Now" button below. Bring your business cards to share with members attending.
Annual Holiday Party, January 9
Save the date for our annual holiday gathering. We will be returning to Glendoveers for some c amaraderie and spirit sharing! Watch your email and social media for details.
Come join us at Patty Flowerday Dance Studios for a tour and light lunch. This former barn was converted into new space and is now a very active dance studio. Please register so we can order food for all.

Penfield has a new Urgent Care dedicated to youth up to the age of 23 . We were excited to welcome them to the community in early October.

November Membership Invoices

Your annual membership invoice was emailed to you in early September for members with a November 1st renewal date. If you did not receive your invoice and you’ve been a member for greater than 2 years, you most likely you have a November 1st membership date, please let us know & we’ll resend. Your invoice is due on or before November 1, 2019. Thank you.
Annual Business Awards
The Penfield Business Chamber is seeking nominations for the Annual Business Awards that are presented at the Holiday Party in January. The deadline for nominations is December 15, 2019.
  • Business of the Year Award: This award is given annually by the Penfield Business Chamber to honor a local business that has significantly contributed to the vitality and success of the Penfield business community. 
  • Daniel Penfield Award: This award is given annually by the Penfield Business Chamber to honor a local business person who has positively impacted the Penfield business community through his or her community involvement, business practices and overall character. 
  • Penfield Pride Award: Each year the Penfield Business Chamber recognizes a local business that rehabilitates an existing building, creates a vibrant new look and becomes a positive addition to Penfield's proud community.

Community Events
Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf needs Volunteer Drivers 
The Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf is looking for a volunteer to help deliver food to our house bound clients. This would involve helping on Wednesday mornings with an 8:15am arrival, selecting food for your 5-8 deliveries, and then delivering to homes. (Shopping help is sometimes available from another volunteer.)  Total time approximately 1.5 hours. May be possible to divide job into separate parts-1 shopper and 1 driver. If you are interested please  contact us . Potential volunteers can visit the Food Shelf and shadow a current driver to see what they do!!!
Baywinde Living Community hosts Casino Party
Tuesday, November 19th

The Baywinde Living Community will be hosting a Casino Party on November 19th from 2-4pm. The party will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf collecting turkeys for holiday baskets

The Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf is hoping to collect 150 turkeys each for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets. Starting in mid November the local grocery stores will have the turkeys on sale. Turkeys between 10-15 lbs. are preferred.

The drop off dates are as follows:
  • Thanksgiving distribution will be on Saturday, Nov. 23.
  • Christmas distribution will be on Saturday, Dec. 21.

Something new this year!! Food will be distributed from the garage, so please drop your turkeys off by using the main driveway at 1618 Jackson Rd. between 7:30 am and 8:30am. We will have volunteers there to accept them. We will start distributing the dinners at 9:00am.
 
Send an email to penfieldfoodshelf@gmail.com if you are interested in donating a turkey, noting which holidays you can help with. We do not have room to store any turkeys between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we will have the two delivery dates. 

If you'd like more information on collecting the other items in the holiday baskets, (boxed stuffing, applesauce, gravy, cranberries) please send an email to above address.
