Diane Barney grew up in Albany, NY; inspired by her parents who both worked in technical fields, she studied aeronautical and astronautical engineering at Purdue University. Diane graduated with her B.S. and commissioned 2 Lt. through AFROTC in 2009.
She spent years years on active duty as an operational flight test engineer for the USAF working with B-1s, F-15 radar, RQ-4s, and U-2s. Diane used her first paycheck after graduating to start flight lessons, buying her first airplane in 2012.
Diane left the Air Force to come to Mojave where she worked on programs with Scaled Composites, The Spaceship Company, and ESAero. Diane is currently a senior flight systems engineer for NASA's electric X-57.
Shortly after arriving in the California desert, she developed a love of backcountry flying and vintage aviation. Just this past September, a friend - Dustin Mosher - and her had the honor of participating in the Legacy of Peace flyovers hosted by the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Oahu, Hawaii, flying a 1942 Boeing Stearman.

Sponsor a Month or Give Us Your Best Shot!
We Still Have Several Months Open - Deadline 31 Oct 20.
Now is a great time to show everyone you support Estrella Warbirds Museum! This applies to both individuals and businesses! Sign up now to sponsor a month on the 2021 Estrella Warbirds Museum wall calendar! Let everyone know and advertise your business, plus get free calendars in the process!
We are currently preparing a 2021 8.5 by 11 inch full color wall calendar featuring various aircraft, vehicles and or artifacts currently on display at Estrella Warbirds Museum. This was successfully done in the past for several years. 2020 may not have been the best year for everyone but ringing in 2021 would be an excellent time to restart the program.
The word is out as we look for sponsors and photographs to be included in the 2021 wall calendar. If you wish to sponsor, you need to act now as the deadline is October 31st.
If you have a great photo you took of any of the artifacts (or an event held at the museum) which would be suitable for publication, you could win free calendars!

Fall Swap Meet Overwhelming Success
For those who attended the Fall Swap Meet, you know it was a success! For those who missed it, don't worry, we will do it again!
A special thank you goes out to all that participated as a seller, a volunteer, or as a shopper! Once again, you stepped up and supported the museum in a great way! There were lots of vendors, plenty of items to choose from and plenty of people that visited the museum and participated! Thank you!
The next swap meet is currently planned during the Warbirds Wings & Wheels event held the second Saturday in May. However, the recent success got us to thinking..., "Should we do this again sooner?" Stay tuned! That could just happen.

We're Keeping Things Moving!
The next time you visit Estrella Warbirds Museum, you might think, "Things look different." You would be correct! During some of the slower days, the crew has taken advantage of the time to relocate many of the aircraft and displays to different positions. This is part of a two fold effort to arrange like period displays together and, in the long run to make better use of the existing area as we prepare for future expansion to the acquired acreage just to the west of the existing layout. Behind the scenes, we've been putting together new facility layouts before we can commence with the required below ground utilities. It is definitely exciting to know that our once small 501(c)(3) museum has continued to grow over the years while not relying on government handouts (i.e., your tax dollars!) We are proud to be part of a Paso Robles community which has embraced our ideals and growth!

New at the Woodland Auto Display
The name may say "Auto" Display, but it's not just four wheeled cool vehicles, some are only 2 wheeled! And here is yet another fabulous addition to the Woodland Auto Display. Crocker motorcycles are no doubt the most sought after American manufactured motorcycles. They were produced from 1936 through 1942 when the plans was converted to the wartime effort. In all, less than 100 were made and this 1939 Crocker "Small Tank" is one of the finest in existence. The engine and chassis were very advanced for the period with the engines putting out about 50% more horsepower than either the Harley Davidsons or Indians of the era. They not only out performed the other motorcycles, but easily outran all the mass produced automotibles as well.
Thank you to Paso Roblan, Mike Madden, for entrusting us with this piece of treasure/history.
