The Official 2019 Ice In Date!
We are officially ICED IN in Morson! This years official date was November 9th. What makes "Ice In" official? Around these parts we consider Ice In to be when the ice sheet extends (and stays) from Morson to Dawson Narrows.
This years ice is earlier than average, with the average being around November 21st. Since 1981, the earliest ice in was November 4th. The latest ice in was just a few years ago, December 19th, 2015!

OCTOBER & NOVEMBER MEMORIES
October brings some Gill Birthdays! On October 24th, Terry turned 41 and on October 28th, Tony turned 38! We all celebrated with Stewart and Yvonne, enjoyed a steak dinner followed by cake!
Once the boats are out of the water and the doors are closed for another season, all we can do is wait for the ice to get thick enough for ice fishing!
In the meantime, we took a little trip South with the kids to enjoy a week of sun, fun and quality family time!

Winter is here and the houseboats are out of the water, the Marina has closed it's doors for the season and Hanson Bay Cafe is a wrap for 2019.
Many of you wonder - what do you do all winter?!?!
Yes, we do hunt, fish, sled and travel - BUT did you know that the Gill's also own a year round business in Sioux Narrows,ON?
Gill's Trading Post has been serving the Sioux Narrows community for more than 50 years! They offer gas, groceries, souvenirs, bait, tackle, licences and a take out deli - 7 days a week, all year round! Tony has the reins on this very busy operation and now that Morson is closed up for the year, Terry and Crissy will spend most of the week down in Sioux Narrows working at the Trading Post.
