From the Galley

We know you like to enjoy some of our recipes at home. We just had this for lunch today with a great chicken soup. It hit the spot on a cool fall day.

Mix together:
1 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar (optional)
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1 c. milk
1/4 c. vegetable oil
Beat until smooth.
Bake in a greased 8" x 8" pan at 425 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes.

End of the season

We had a fine brunch for the last day of the 2017 season.  The wind and weather were absolutely perfect for a exciting sail home.

On the homefront

We visited Rachel, Justin and Anna on an early October weekend. It was a beautiful day so we could eat outside on the patio.  Rachel made baked sweet potato "fries".  Anna was confused as to what to do with them.  She just squished them in her hand.  Grampy gave Anna a lesson in eating her first solid food. She watched, and caught on quickly.

Fall house work

We're putting in our annual fall work on the house.  We're so pleased to have the manlift. Doug's knees are feeling really good not having to climb ladders.  Sean's helping him with the project while he thinks about what he wants to do for work until spring outfitting in April.  All the other crew members have left for the winter.

We had our first evening fire in the fireplace on November 1st.  Killer, our kitty, joined us and enjoyed the warmth.  It has been quite a warm fall up until now.

Hope you're enjoying this lovely fall weather.
