I hope you have been enjoying the crisp fall weather and the colorful natural beauty of the area we call home ~ to our residents, businesses and tourists alike. In October, our tourism concierges greeted many tour buses, bringing record numbers of visitors to our area. The Chamber hosted its first lunch business seminar, hosting Peter Van Allen, editor of MaineBiz; held a wonderful Business After Hours, co-sponsored by Gorham Savings Bank and Federal Jack's; helped network businesses; and developed a new member-to-member program. Did you know that one of our new members Paper Trails is offering a discount to our Chamber members for payroll services? Call us to learn more!

The Chamber is happy to let you know we have hired Matter Communications, a public and media relations firm, to help promote our area as a year-round place to visit, live and work in. We wrote and were awarded a $10,000 grant from Maine Office of Tourism to support this initiative, and committed $5,000 toward the project. I am excited beyond belief, and want to acknowledge and thank our partners for raising an additional $34,000 for the project: Amtrak / Downeaster, Captain Jefferd's Inn, Captain Lord Mansion, The Colony, Inn at English Meadows, Kennebunkport Resort Collection, Maine Stay Inn, The Nonantum, Port Inn Kennebunk and 1802 House. We thank all who are involved in making this project a reality.

Our Annual Holiday Online Auction is online now! Click here to access the auction. And we invite you all to attend our Annual Live Auction, co-sponsored by Camden National Bank and Duffy's Tavern and Grill, to be held on November 19 from 5:30 to 8 PM at Duffy's. A huge thank you to ALL businesses who donated items, packages, experiences and more to help make our auction a success, give area businesses more visibility and to give bidders an opportunity to buy these and support the Chamber's programs and services.

Looking ahead to February 2015, the Chamber invites you to be part of a new initiative to "Paint the Town Red," helping to make our area "New England's Most Romantic Town." We hope to get many businesses involved. Decorate with white and red lights! Offer dining, lodging and retail deals! Let's get people to our area during the winter months. Call or email the Chamber to be involved.

Best regards,

Denise M. Clavette, Executive Director

HalloweenPumpkinOver 100 trick-or-treaters - including wizards, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, princesses, one sailor, a tiger with a lion, a cupcake, a strawberry, two professors, mummies, witches and many, many more - visited the Chamber office last Friday for Halloween. It was a wonderful group of parents and children along with several dogs, in costume, of course, and an 8-week old boxer puppy named "Lilly." Most went on to visit businesses along Main Street, Lower Village, Union Square and Dock Square that displayed their Chamber pumpkin sign, our "official" Candy Trail marker. Many thanks to the businesses, stores and organizations that participated and made Halloween so "sweet" for our neighborhood kids.

Chamber members receive a complimentary business listing in the Experience the Kennebunks guidebook - but you must be a member by Dec. 1. Please download the listing form, complete your business information and return the form to the Chamber at

Want to host a Business After Hours? The Chamber is now booking hosts and business partners for our monthly networking socials for 2015 on the third Wednesday of the month.
