Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour. Brain tumours are unpredictable and complex. They can affect vision, hearing, memory, balance and mobility. Their effects are physical, emotional, financial, and last a lifetime.

Our vision is to find the cause of and a cure for brain tumours while improving the quality of life for those affected. Research is the key to achieving our vision.

Thanks to donors and sponsors, we have various opportunities for you throughout 2024 and 2025 to apply for funding from us.

PROJECT UPDATES

Arthurine Yu

2024 Studentship Recipient

Project Title: “Overcoming treatment resistance in very high-risk childhood medulloblastoma”

"This summer in the Ramaswamy Lab, I focused on contributing to one of the existing projects, studying medulloblastoma subtypes with a focus on MYC amplified Group 3.

It has been previously identified that there are similarities between disease recurrence and the activation of certain signaling pathways in both Group 3 and 4 medulloblastoma. Therefore, we tested two separate drugs in Group 3 medulloblastoma mice models."

Project Title: “uPAR as an immunotherapeutic target in recurrent Glioblastoma”

"Recurrent glioblastoma (rGBM) remains a daunting disease that is difficult to treat, and thus novel treatments are essential to provide improved treatment options for patients.

Since last summer, we have further demonstrated the efficacy of uPAR as a potential immunotherapeutic target in rGBM."
