College Outreach Update
What The Health Movie Screening at MSU a Success

Approximately 25 people were in attendance for our first documentary screening at MSU in partnership with the MSU VegClub. VegMichigan provided free vegan pizza from Blaze Pizza following the film and received lots of positive feedback on the food and the movie's message! This month, VegMichigan and the Michigan Animal Respect Society (MARS) will be hosting a meet-and-greet and free vegan food sampling for students to promote how easy eating vegan can be! Check out our online calendar for details on more great events coming to a campus near you.
VegMichigan has reached thousands of students this fall by partnering with local student groups to hand out information on the benefits of a vegan lifestyle. We've been to Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and Macomb Community College. If you're interested in activism, leafleting is an easy and effective way to help spread the message!

Vegan Sources of Calcium
There's no need to consume dairy in order to meet the recommended daily allowance of calcium as the dairy industry would have us believe. In fact, vegetable-centric vegan diets are actually more likely to prevent broken bones and osteoporosis than drinking cow's milk. Vegan foods with the highest quantities of calcium are:

1. Tofu 2. White beans 3. Collard greens 4. Kale 5. Almonds 6. Tempeh 7. Chinese cabbage 8. Sesame seeds 9. Figs 10. Oranges 11. Soy milk 12. Okra 13. Rhubarb
