Elections Town Hall Recap
Our Elections Town Hall broke down the different ways in which we can vote and answered the most commonly asked questions by our community.

We were joined by special guests from the Dallas County Elections Office, The Senior Source, and the League of Women Voters.

Indigenous Peoples Day
On October 12th, we celebrated Indigenous People's Day to honor Indigenous people and commemorate their histories and cultures. We must continue to listen and learn from our Indigenous communities to create the necessary empowerment and awareness they deserve.

Do you to learn more about Indigenous people? Here is a list of books by Indigenous Authors:
  • Heart Berries: A Memoir by Terese Marie Mailhot
  • There There by Tommy Orange
  • Dwellings: A Spiritual History of the Living World by Linda Hogan

October Community Clean Up with Project Orange
Our District Office helped a local organization, Operation Orang3, partner up with Richardson and Dallas Parks and Rec to begin a series of local community clean-ups.

Our second community clean up was at Cottonwood Park in Dallas. Our staff and volunteers met on a beautiful Sunday morning to clean up one of the most overlooked parks in our district, bringing joy to residents all around.

JFS PLAN Clubhouse Visit
This month, the Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas invited me for a socially-distant visit to their new PLAN (People Living Active Now) Clubhouse. The PLAN Clubhouse is an amazing place full of hope and opportunities for individuals with mental illness to realize their full potential. Services include professional psychotherapy, both group and individual, with therapists who understand severe mental illness, case management, and referrals.

Senior Pen Pal Letters
At the end of the summer, a couple of constituents reached out to our office about engaging and communicating with the senior members of our community. We decided to put together a pen pal project to reach out to seniors in local assisted living facilities.

Huge thank you to Ms. A. Slatter & D. Pielucci for the idea and for collecting letters from our community.
