NOVEMBER 2023

Gentle Compassion & Expert Care

Giving Tuesday: November 28, 2023

The adage that "Many hands make light work" was never better exemplified than during our recent gala. When the Hospice asked for help funding a new shower chair, valued at more than $16,000, this task was too much to ask just one person. But when we were able to join 30 people, the amount was no longer insurmountable and, together, we accomplished this goal.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, we come together as a community to make a positive impact and extend a helping hand to those in need. "Many hands make light work" perfectly captures the essence of this day, emphasizing the collective power we possess to bring about meaningful change.

The Hospice is proud to be part of this global movement, and we encourage everyone to find their unique ways to participate. Whether it's making a donation, spreading awareness about a cause dear to your heart, or lending a helping hand, your contribution matters. By coming together, we amplify the impact of our individual actions, embodying the true spirit of community and generosity.

On this Giving Tuesday, we hope you choose to support the Hospice and, in turn, support many of your neighbours and community members. To make a donation or purchase something from our new Gift Catalogue, please visit our website here.

A quote that has inspired Allison over the years...

"Be the kind of social worker you would want to have"

A Message from Allison Campbell MSW, RSW, BCR

Social Work & Grief Support Lead

"It is with the absolute most heavy heart that I must let you all know that I am have made the extremely difficult decision to leave my position at the hospice. My reason for leaving is that I have accepted a full time permanent position at Alberta Children's Hospital as an oncology social worker. As most of you know, this has been my absolute dream, and the job that inspired me to want to become a social worker. After 13 years of learning and growing, I have the opportunity to be able to return to where it all began, and to finally be able to support others who are walking the same journey. What an amazing legacy to my little girl.

This has been the absolute most difficult decision I have had to make. It is so unbelievably hard to think about leaving a place you consider home. The last 3.5 years have been the best years of my career, and I have been so incredibly honored and blessed to have gotten to work alongside all of the wonderful residents, families, staff, volunteers, and members of the community that are supported by the hospice. I cannot even put the words together to describe how much I will miss working with all of you.

Thank you all for sharing your life with me and allowing me to be such an important part of your journey."
