MSP was born in the 1970s when neighbors courageously came together as volunteers, revealing the power of a community united in care. That spirit continues to guide us, especially now. As we enter a season of reflection and giving, we return to our shared purpose: maintaining a community committed to keeping pathways to independence open for families rebuilding after domestic violence.

Sponsor a Family Wrap-up

100 Families. One Community. A Season Lifted by Generosity.

This year’s Sponsor a Family initiative became a powerful reminder of what community can do. Through the heartfelt efforts of Alpha Chi Omega (AXO), People’s Bank, Evans Consulting, and so many caring neighbors who showed up throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), we raised funds to cover gift cards for the 100+ families in our transitional housing programs.

These gestures of kindness offer quiet reassurance and a powerful reminder that they are not alone. A vast, unseen circle of support surrounds them as they move forward.

Community Partner Spotlight: Alpha Chi Omega

Alpha Chi Omega Raises $9,256 to Support Survivors

Each year, Alpha Chi Omega (AXO) at American University gathers the campus onto the field for Kickoff, a soccer tournament where play becomes purpose. This year, AXO raised $9,256 to bring holiday gifts and necessities to families at MSP.

Their enduring partnership remains a winning force for survivors. On behalf of MSP, we rally in gratitude to celebrate their continued leadership in compassion.

Thanksgiving at Sancturary II

A Thanksgiving Table Filled with Care and Community

Families at Sanctuary II gathered for a warm Thanksgiving meal in the home they’ve built together, a home strengthened by acts of care that bring stability during transition.

Thanks to the generosity of Giving Together and Accenture, and the exceptional work of our longtime chef, Chef V, a true Thanksgiving table came to life. It was a celebration grounded in connection, dignity, and belonging.

Holiday Appeal Prep Thank You

Preparing the Campaign That Sustains Our Work Year-Round

We’re sincerely grateful to our amazing board members, and to volunteer groups from Howard University’s SISTUHS & My Sister’s Keeper, GW Medical Students, and AU Alumni, who personalized and prepared thousands of our holiday appeal cards this year. This annual appeal brings in the majority of MSP’s individual giving funds for the year, which are vital to funding our programs. We are so grateful to our staff, board, and community for contributing to this effort each year!

Our Year End Campaign Has Begun!
