Welcome to the month of November!
We are eager to finally begin to have some colder crisp weather, and we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving with our friends and family this month.
Looking back on October, we are so happy to say that our October Harvest Fest , Pumpkin Picking and Halloween Celebrations were a huge success. The children had so much fun, and enjoyed learning all about the Fall season and all of our many other October themes. There were many creative activities, and beautifully painted pumpkins to take home.
We loved seeing the children in their adorable costumes on Halloween. Don’t forget to check out our Instagram and Facebook pages to see our Halloween Parade, and who the lucky winners from our costume and pumpkin carving contests are.
November is a very exciting month at Christ the King Community Daycare. In addition to learning about our monthly letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and the concept of right and left, the children will be learning so much in preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.
In the beginning of November, the children will follow-up learning about the Harvest and where all of our food, fruits and vegetables come from. We will also talk about our family, what kinds of food we like to eat, and the family traditions we will share this month. During the last weeks of November, the children will do a lot of hands-on arts and crafts. They will make many Thanksgiving decorations and more.
Each class will have their very own special celebration to honor "The First Thanksgiving." Please see your child’s teacher about sign-up suggestions for their class celebration. We will make projects, have dancing and music, and talk about what we are thankful for.
Here at Christ the King Daycare/ Preschool, we are thankful for all of our loving family and friends and extend our warmest wishes for a very Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Science with the Bunnies
Welcome to November and Happy Thanksgiving! This month we are going to learn all about Thanksgiving by creating different projects and having our own Thanksgiving celebration. We will also be learning about rectangles, the number 3, letters E and F, and the color brown.
Last month the Bunnies had our Halloween party and participated in our Halloween parade. We had so much fun walking around showing off our costumes and looking at all of our friends’ costumes. The Bunnies had fun with Science last month as well. We read books about fall and showed the children different color leaves that have been falling from the trees. We also participated in our harvest festival. We went in the pumpkin patch and picked our own pumpkins. In the pumpkin patch we played with the hay listening to the different sounds it made. We also played in the sensory bins, we felt the texture of the corn while trying to find the little farm animals. In the classroom we painted our pumpkins and mixed colors together. This month we are going to continue exploring with our hands and learn to say "Thank you!"
Science with the Lions
In October, the Lions engaged in all sorts of fun activities—picking, scaring, parading, and learning! We continued our lessons on balls, exploring which ones bounce and how, but we also took some time for Halloween festivities. Dressed in our mad scientist lab coats, we conducted a spooky science experiment. By combining cornstarch, Alka-Seltzer, and a little water in a film canister, we created a high-flying ghost explosion! The children sat patiently, eager to see which ghost would soar high and which would stay low. They learned that adjusting the amounts of each ingredient can change the outcome of the explosion. It was definitely a "blast!"
November promises to be just as exciting! As we continue our ball lessons, we'll also focus on gratitude and Thanksgiving. We'll wrap up our ball unit with a Spirit Week and then transition into a new lesson about trees.
Science with the Dolphins
October was unbe-leaf-able! We began our new unit on Pets, discussing the various types of pets our Dolphin friends have at home. We even welcomed four new fish friends and a snail into our classroom! Our Dolphins had a blast coming up with names for each of our new friends.
Once we named our fishy friends, we dove into the Fall season with a fun pumpkin science project. We started by dissecting a pumpkin to explore its insides, labeling its parts both inside and out. Afterward, we transformed our pumpkin into a spooky Jack-O-Lantern! We used baking soda, vinegar, dish soap, and food coloring to create a bubbling pumpkin volcano. Our Dolphin friends loved watching the reaction as we added vinegar to the baking soda inside the Jack-O-Lantern, and they enjoyed exploring the mixture afterwards. This was a fun and spooky science project that everyone loved!
As we look forward to November, we’re excited to begin a new unit all about bread! From making it to tasting it, our Dolphins are going to become true "Carbivores!" We’re also looking forward to our cultural Thanksgiving feast and learning about each other’s cultures.

Math with the Kitties
Hello November! We look forward to learning all about harvest and Thanksgiving this month. We can not wait to celebrate Thanksgiving with our class feast! The Kitties had so much fun through the month of October learning about farms, autumn and celebrating Halloween! We truly enjoyed the Harvest Festival, as we played in the sensory tables, jumped in the ball pit, and picked our own pumpkins.
The Kitties also learned about the colors black and orange last month. We used some crafts to help us learn about each. For the color black we created spiders. We painted each child’s hands black and had them stamp the paper, palms together and fingers out. The palms became the spider’s body and the fingers were the legs. After the spiders dried, the Kitties counted all the legs on their spider creations. For the color orange, the Kitties made pumpkins by gluing orange tissue paper onto a pumpkin cutout. The children really enjoyed these activities, and are looking forward to more projects as we learn about brown, rectangles and the number 3 this month.
Math with the Chipmunks
During the month of October, the Chipmunks wrapped up our unit on "The First 6 Weeks" and began the unit on Balls. We explored AB patterns using colored balls, and the children created their own two-color patterns. We also carved a pumpkin and designed our own pumpkin creations. Afterward, we took the seeds from the pumpkin, glued them onto our designs, and counted how many seeds there were. Then we identified the total number and attached that number to our artwork.
In November, we will continue the Ball Unit and begin our study on wheels. We will engage in more activities focusing on one-to-one correspondence and number identification, as well as shapes. The children will create their own wheels using any shape they choose.
Math with the Turtle
As we reflect on October, we enjoyed learning about leaves and the reasons they change color in the Fall. We also explored the topic of Pets during our unit of study. One particularly fun lesson was creating AB patterns using pictures of pets. We began by reviewing what an AB pattern would look like. Then students went to the math center in small groups to create their own patterns. Each student selected pictures of two pets. Next, they glued their pictures of the two animals in a pattern formation. The students loved sharing their work and discussing which two pets they each selected.
Looking ahead to November, the Turtles are excited to celebrate the multicultural aspects of Thanksgiving and begin our next unit on bread. We will wrap up our study of pets and start discussing foods from various cultures. There’s much to look forward to in November!

Art with the Puppies
Happy November! This month, our one-year-old Puppies class are excited to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving with story-time sessions featuring seasonal books about friendship and gratitude. We’ll also incorporate music for dancing and joyful expression, making this a month of fun, friendship, and discovery!
Last month, the Puppies explored the colorful leaves and crisp air of autumn. We engaged in various projects, from crafting pumpkin finger paintings to creating spooky mummies! Our favorite project was “C is for Cauldron,” where we used dot markers to make our cauldron appear to "bubble" over. In celebration of the autumn leaves, we designed our own leaves using handprints, and let’s not forget our fun frankin-foot prints! We had a wonderful time picking pumpkins at the Harvest Festival. The Puppies enjoyed exploring sensory tables, hay stacks, a ball pit, and more! It was a day filled with laughter and cherished memories.
Art with the Bumblebees
Hello November, a new month of learning with new themes. The Bumblebees will focus this month on being thankful. We will start by thanking our veterans for their service. Then we will learn different ways to show thanks and celebrate Thanksgiving with our families and friends.
October was packed with lots of fun activities. The Bumblebees went on a nature walk to collect leaves for art projects. We had a blast at the annual Harvest Festival. There were so many things to do - pumpkin picking, art, games, tattoos, sensory tables, and our favorite the ball pit. Then we ended the month with the Halloween Parade. It was so exciting to have our families come to see us.
The Bumblebees really enjoyed using different materials for their art projects. We used stickers for our opposites lesson, showing the day and night sky. For our letters, we glued together cut-out pieces to make a Cow and a Dog. October’s shape was octagon, so we used 2 different size octagons to make spiders on webs. Later in the month, we collected leaves outside and used them to make hedgehogs. Our favorite art projects, however, involved us using paint. After the Harvest Festival, we painted our pumpkins to take home. We did a few group art projects using our painted handprints as well. First we made a farm scene with different animals like cows, horses, sheep and pigs. Next, I drew a large web and we filled it with spiders. For Halloween we made a spooky house surrounded by ghosts, witches, monsters, a bat and zom-bees. The Bumblebees liked watching their friends do the art as much as they liked making it.
Art with the Pandas
“The leaves are falling down,
The leaves are falling down,
Down, down, to the ground, the leaves are falling down.”
During the month of October, the Pandas learned all about the theme Pets. The class had a lot of fun exploring various animals that can be pets, such as bunnies, fish, dogs, cats, and lizards! We engaged with this theme through a variety of centers. In the Art center, we used pet animal figures from the classroom to study their paw prints. The students discovered that some animals have larger paw prints than others and that these differences serve various purposes. For example, they learned that cats have sharper and longer claws for climbing, while turtles have two large fins for swimming. The Pandas enjoyed dipping the figures in paint to create their own pet print murals.
This month, the Pandas also celebrated our first fall holiday with the Harvest Festival, followed by our Halloween party. The students were excited to create fun Halloween crafts and participate in various autumn activities. Next month, we will explore the theme of bread. The Pandas will learn about different types of bread and even how to make it. We look forward to diving into this theme in the classroom!

Music with the Angels
The Angels are excited to welcome November! Last month, we had so much fun celebrating Halloween and learning new Halloween songs. One of our favorite songs was the “Spooky Walk.” We all sat down on the floor with our legs out, listened and followed the instructions as the song played. As we took our “walk,” we patted our legs for each step. When we pretended to “run” through the tall grass away from the witch we swished our hands together. When we “swam” through the river to escape from the cat, we made a swimming motion with our arms. This music activity was super fun and great for our gross motor and our listening skills. We also listened to a song called “Can You Make a Happy Face.” This song describes a jack -o- lantern and the face that it is making. When the jack -o- lantern is happy, we make a happy face and when it is sad, we make our sad face. This song helped us identify our emotions and taught us how we can make facial expressions to show how we are feeling.
Thank you to all of our parents that donated treats and goodies for our Halloween party. It was so much fun seeing all of the children in their costumes. This month, the Angels will learn more about autumn and the harvest season. We will learn about the color brown, rectangles and letters E, F, G. We are also looking forward to our Thanksgiving feast!
Music with the Sunflowers
In October, the Sunflower class had a wonderful time at the Harvest Festival and celebrating Halloween. They loved seeing each other’s costumes, enjoying delicious snacks, and dancing to Halloween-themed music. We also spent time learning about pumpkins, discussing their parts and life cycle. One of the highlights was singing the song "Five Little Pumpkins," which helped us practice counting while engaging with the story of the pumpkins. The children enjoyed acting out the lyrics, making it a fun and interactive experience. Additionally, we began exploring the topic of balls. As a class, we talked about the different types of sports that use balls and shared our favorites. During Circle Time, we described various balls, focusing on their shape, texture, and appearance.
This month, we’re excited to dive deeper into the topic of music! We will explore different musical instruments and sounds, using our bodies to create rhythms as we play with balls. For example, we’ll learn how to gently pass a ball to our friends while singing a song, stopping to freeze when the music pauses. We’ll also introduce concepts like beats and tempo through bouncing balls and clapping along to the rhythm. Music will be an integral part of our daily activities, enhancing our movement and coordination skills while making learning fun.
Music with the Ducks
“Leaves are falling.
Winter’s calling.
We are thankful
For our friends.
NOVE-M-BER
It’s November once again”.
(Kathleen Pedersen)
Welcome to November! The leaves are falling, and the children are excited for a fun month ahead. Our Harvest Festival was a wonderful success, with the kids enjoying pumpkin picking and various seasonal activities.
In October, the Ducks focused on preparing for the Harvest Festival by learning different songs. Using egg shakers, we practiced "Old McDonald Had a Farm," exploring how to sing in both low and high pitches. This exercise helped the children understand how music can change and how to control their vocal range. We also practiced clapping our hands while singing, demonstrating how rhythm can alter the song's sound. Exposing children to music during early development aids in their understanding of sounds and the meanings of words, making language learning enjoyable.
This November, our theme will be "Different Balls." During center time, each child will have the opportunity to bounce various types of balls and listen to the sounds they make. First, they will use a large ball, such as a basketball, and describe the sound—loud or soft. Next, they will bounce a tennis ball, further exploring sound differences. This activity will help the Ducks recognize that even balls can create sounds and contribute to music.

Gym Time with Snugglies II
Welcome November! We are looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this month. Last month the children enjoyed many fall activities. We dressed up in our Halloween costumes and marched in a parade. We also began going to the gym. In the gym, we use our motor skills to help pull ourselves up, learning to balance and how to walk. We also listen to music in the gym. Even though some of us cannot stand up, we love hearing the music, clapping our hands and moving our arms. Another activity we enjoy is rolling the balls in the gym. We are looking forward to spending more time in the gym as we are now more mobile.
Tech with the Music
Welcome November. We are looking forward to learning about the changing colors of the leaves and the importance of giving thanks during the Thanksgiving holiday. Our class will continue to explore themes of colors, letters and numbers through fun and interactive activities. We can't wait to see what new songs and dances we will discover next!
The month of October is always an exciting one with the Harvest festival and Halloween parade. Our class learned about octagons, the colors black and orange, fall, harvest and Halloween through our technology time in the Computer Room. We sang about the farm and also danced to our favorite Halloween songs. Our favorite song was “5 Little Pumpkins” by Super Simple Songs. It helped us practice counting to 5 and we also learned about each emotion that each pumpkin felt.
Tech with the Bears
During the month of October, the Bears had a great time exploring our unit on Pets. The children were excited to show off their pets from home and discuss them. They played a computer game sorting animals we find in the wild and those we find in our homes. The children enjoyed sorting the different animals as they clicked and dragged them into the correct categories. Afterward, they were thrilled to go to the playground and act out the animals they had sorted in class.
The Bears are excited to enter November as we start our new unit on Bread. Bread is everywhere! Nearly every culture in the world eats some type of bread. The children will explore and taste different kinds of bread, as well as participate in our cultural feast and Thanksgiving. A study on bread provides children with the opportunity to learn how bread is made, the kinds of bread we eat, who works with bread, and how and when we eat it.

Angels
After snack time it was time to wash our hands. Milo went over to the play kitchen area and began to rub his hands together and “wash” them in the play sink!
Bears
While the children were playing in the kitchen center (pet store), they were buying different kinds of treats for their pets. Corina said, “Ms. Kerin, do you want to come shop in our store for Maeve (my dog)? I think she will love all the things we have in our pet store. Look at this jacket! I think Maeve will look great in it.” I replied, “Thank you. She will love it.”
Bumblebees
During Circle Time, we were going over shapes and finding them on the poster. Miss Latisha asked a friend, “Where is the diamond?” Ava yelled, “Diamond where are you?”
Bunnies
When Fiona came back from vacation Emma gave her a big hug welcoming her back! Fiona responded by screaming, “Eh-ma!” It was an adorable reunion.
Chipmunks
One day when Miss Linda came back from lunch, Sheena and Rebel announced, "Miss Linda is back from vacation!" We all laughed and thought it was so funny as she was only gone a short time. Now they make the announcement each time Miss Linda returns.
Dolphins
After seeing our new class pets, Lovis was so excited that she jumped up and down, chanting, “Fishy! Fishy! Fishy!” The other friends quickly joined in the excitement. Once things calmed down, Lovis exclaimed, “I want to name one of them Elsa because I love Elsa!” Everyone agreed, and we named our white fish Elsa!

During outside time, Derek said, “Miss Diane, don’t forget your jacket; it’s cold outside today.” Miss Diane replied, “Thanks, Derek.” Derek added, “I will remind you every day, Miss Diane!”
Kitties
Ms. Lisa sneezed while she was changing Anthony and he said, "Bless you teacher!"
Lions
In a lighthearted moment, Miss Melissa was talking with Eva and Calla about their iPads. They asked if her dog had one, to which Miss Melissa replied she had no idea where to find an iPad for Banner (her dog). Eva cheerfully suggested, "Maybe you could try Amazon!"
Monkeys
As the Monkeys were walking to the gym, Mia turns to Miss Laura and says, " We are rolling like pumpkins!"
Pandas
While playing Simon Says, J.D. said, "I want Simon to make everyone pretend to be a dog just like my dog, Teddy!”
Puppies
At the Harvest Festival, Kaitlyn launched herself into the ball pit like a joyful cannonball! She was having the time of her life, truly living her best ball pit dreams!
