The 2021 Boys 5A State Golf Tournament was held on October 5th at Mystic Creek Golf Club. Lakeside High claimed the state title and Van Buren was the runner-up.

Individual winners were:

Will Gordon (Lakeside High) who was the top medalist for individual stroke play and runner-up Jon Brooks Elia (El Dorado). These two, along with 10 others advanced to the Arkansas State Golf Association High School Overall Championship on October 14th at the Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock.

I would like to thank everyone for a great first season. Our staff has worked diligently to provide excellent customer service and hospitality to all of our guests and members at Mystic Creek Golf Club and Mystic Grill. I hope that everyone's experiences have been positive throughout the golfing season. We strive for excellent customer service and I pray that we have provided just that.

We are gearing up for the holidays now, and we know that Mystic Grill will be a popular place during this time. Please keep in mind that this is our first holiday season with the restaurant and we will work with members & customers to accommodate as many guests at one time as we can. Please keep in mind that our seating is limited. For parties of 6 or more, we encourage you to call ahead and make reservations to guaranteed seating. For private parties, you may call Melissa Ludwig, our Membership & Marketing Manager, and she can help you plan your perfect event.

We will be closed on Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day but plan to be open New Year's Day, weather permitting. As always, course closures, delays, or interruptions will be posted to Facebook and Instagram pages and emailed to all members.

October was a great month here at Mystic Creek Golf Club! This was my first full month here and I have learned a lot of things, met some awesome people, and helped with many events - including the Symetra Tour (in September) my FIRST WEEK here! What a roller coaster it has been, but I am loving every minute of it!

I am working on getting all the accounts current. We had several credit cards on file that had expired or that members have cancelled due to fraudulent activity/etc. Members, PLEASE take a look at your monthly statements to make sure you are current on your payments. I have been making phone calls and sending emails to those who have gotten behind. If you are currently mailing a check and wish to have your payments set up for automatic monthly payments, please give me a call and we can save you some trouble and get that set up!

We appreciate our members SO VERY MUCH and your continued support of Mystic Creek Golf Club & Mystic Grill.

Please share your experiences with friends and family. We have incentives for those of you that refer new members to Mystic Creek. We can't grow without our members. Community support is what helps us thrive.

November is here and the weather has finally cooled off! I hope you all take full advantage of, fall golf, cool weather, and great playing conditions.

After a long season we are finally getting to complete some of the needed tasks. We have been expanding pine straw areas and reducing native areas. We have started taking advantage of these first rain days refinishing tee markers. Our cool season weed control plan has been mostly completed.

Now that we are out of growing season it is critical that everyone follow the cart rules and be respectful of wet areas because we will be looking at this turf, cart tracks and traffic patterns until next spring.

Thank you all for continuing to fill divots, fix ball marks, placing broken tees and cigarette butts in the trash, and following the CART RULES.

We have noticed a decreased amount of cigarette butts on the course. THANK YOU! To help and protect the cart staff please place those extinguished cigarettes in an empty can or bottle in the cart for easy and sanitary disposal. Also please be courteous to the golfers behind you and refrain from leaving sunflower seed hulls on the greens.

Thank you all for loving Patches for many years and your thoughts and prayers after she passed away.

We have added two four legged additions to our crew. We are pleased to introduce, Kyle’s assistant shop dog Pete, and Birdie the course dog.

Socorro has been super busy in the kitchen cooking up lots of specials. If you follow Mystic Grill El Dorado on Facebook and/or Instagram, you may have seen some of these specials. If not, be sure to like Mystic Grill El Dorado to stay in the know of daily specials, etc.

Socorro has whipped up specials like her New York Style BBQ Brisket Pizza, Chicken and Dumplings (by request), Steak Pizza with Chimichurri Sauce, and her famous Albondigas Meatball Soup! All of these were absolutely delicious! Don't miss out on future specials! And, always remember that our daily specials may not be on the menu (yet) and are available as supplies last.

Mystic Grill is a great place for fine dining and for holiday entertaining. Because of our limited seating, we ask that anytime you have a group of 6 or more, please call ahead to guarantee seating availability. We also encourage placing orders ahead of time. Call the grill before you come, and they will be happy to put your orders in before you arrive.

It’s getting to that time on year where we in south Arkansas have wet, damp and cooler weather. This means you might want to change your approach on how you chip around the green. When the turf is dormant, the ground is wet and damp; it might be time to put away the 56 degree or 60 degree wedge. If and only if you have enough green to work with, you should probably try more of a bump and run chip shot. You can do this by using a mid to long iron, hybrid or a wood. Place the ball in the back of your stance and use one of these clubs like you would a putting stroke. This is all judgement of speed in the swing and completely takes away the odds of stabbing your wedge into the wet turf. It might take a little practice but this can be one of the easiest shots in golf to hit!
