We are so thankful to you Immanuel! From the very first opportunity at our 'Meet and Greet' in September, to our first Sunday on Oct 16 th (awesome potluck!!!), to the many warm personal greetings we have received in our first weeks, we are so glad to be with you here in Lake Geneva. Your generosity and encouragement is so very appreciated as we start out our ministry together.
We have been hoping to find a church home where we could be co-pastors and Immanuel feels like a perfect fit to us. We see so many great things happening here and we are so eager to dive in. It's hard to remind ourselves that we are just ¾ time each because there is so much we want to do.
This first week of November will be crazy for us. We close on our new home on November 1st! We are moving in on the 2nd and are so glad we will be in our own house as we head into the holidays. Your prayers are very much appreciated! Thank you again for all your encouragement and support as we begin this journey together at Immanuel.

Angel Tree

At Christmas we connect with the ones we love. But what if you are a child with a parent in prison - feeling lonely, abandoned, and hurt?  Through Angel Tree, you can connect a child with their parent behind bars and offer joy and hope to a prisoner's family. We contact families, buy and wrap Christmas gifts, and deliver them - along with a message of love and the Good News about Jesus - in the name of the incarcerated parents.  Look for the Angel Christmas Tree at our church on Thanksgiving Eve Nov. 22nd!   If you have any questions or would like to help deliver presents please contact Rich McWherter 262-215-1243

Message from Your Church Council
As the year is coming to a close and another is not far from starting, we are in need of new council members to fill upcoming vacancies.  Among those whose terms are coming to an end are:
  • Dr. Scott Hodkiewicz, Council President
  • Dr. Matt Dahlgren, Council Treasurer
  • Lynsey Fleck, Council Vice President
  • Frank Peiler
Pete Juergens is up for re-election since he initially replaced an elected member and had the next highest number of votes. In order to continue the tradition and philosophy of Immanuel Lutheran Church, we like to have an equal balance of men and women in leadership. We will be accepting nominations (you may nominate yourself!) for 3 males and 1 female to fill the vacancies. If you are interested in serving on the church council for Immanuel, please contact the church office at or call 262-248-4211.  Nominations will be presented to the congregation at the annual meeting in January for a vote.  Join us all in thanking the out-going council members for their leadership.  We look forward to the next council's leadership and input as we grow into our future with our new Pastors!

Contact Information for the Church Council
The church council, Pastors and staff are eager to be available to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for prayer needs, spiritual guidance, help, and fellowship.  We pledge to work hard with you and for you.  Contact the church office if you need a Church Directory. "FUEL" High School Youth Group
I, Pastor Paul, will be taking over leadership of FUEL - the High School Youth Group. This is a position I had in my last church for the past 10 years. I have met a few of the High School students of Immanuel and I am so impressed with how great they are.  Looking ahead, I'm hopeful that we can begin to build a strong community for our teenagers at Immanuel. Our students face many challenges and we seek to build a strong foundation of faith from which they can step confidently into the future. If everything goes as planned, I believe we will see some incredible things from Fuel.  We meet every Wed. at 5:30pm for dinner & from 6-7:30pm for "Fuel"!

MISSION TRIP UPDATE:   Looking ahead to next summer, we plan on going to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota for a weeklong mission trip. Pine Ridge is one of the most impoverished communities in the Western Hemisphere, but in the midst of the struggle, God is doing amazing things. I will be leading that trip and more information will be coming soon.

Tree House

The year has gone by extremely quickly at the tree house.  242 forensic interviews of children have been completed and counseling services have been provided for 40 children and 96 families.  Good things are happening in bad situations and Immanuel has continued to be a wonderful partner with The Tree House.
The theme for October will be "good hygiene".   Children will be given a small kit of sanitizer, soap, shampoo, conditioner, a wash cloth (that expand in water) and child friendly information on cleanliness.  Any of these items that you wish to donate will be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off in the "Tree House" box located in the gathering space.
There is a book drive currently taking place.  NEW books for children ages 5-18 and especially for ages 13-18 are greatly needed.  If any of Immanuel's children, teens or members of our VIBE group would like to hold a book drive at their school, it would be a wonderful opportunity to "give back".  If you have a child/teen interested, please contact Evie Schulz as the Tree House would love to have that student deliver the books for a special recognition to the Tree House.
There is also a continuous need for snack items:  individual packages of animal and gold fish crackers, juice boxes, bottled water for the children who visit the Tree House.  Also appreciated would be hot wheels, small dolls, a play set with dishes and pans, $5.00 gift cards to McDonalds, Culvers, Jimmy Johns for the teens and gas cards for parents to help  transport their children to and from the center.  Please give any gift cards to Evie; all other donations can be placed in the Tree House box.
In September, the Tree House partnered with law enforcement agency to sponsor National Night Out at the county fairgrounds.  Over 1,000 children attended with parents or another adult.  Five bikes were given away and multiple of education done to help our children and families stay save through the efforts of law enforcement and fire departments.
Volunteers are needed as well to write thank you notes, help with clerical duties, and serve at fundraising and education events.  Let Evie know if you are interested.

*STAY TUNED....the HEARTS TO CARE ministry team is working diligently to get this ministry organized and anticipates that we will soon have Hearts to Care up and running.  To our wonderful volunteers - thank you!  We will be in touch with you soon for a brief training session.
God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help others...   1st Peter 4:10-11

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Age range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.  This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "Lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.   If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly besides the fact that it's fun!  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.   Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket).  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.   The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

St. Vincent De Paul (Milwaukee) Soup Kitchen

Our next service date is November 19th. A Carpool leaves Immanuel at 4pm.  As a result of the over 70 bags of clothing Immanuel gave to the Soup Kitchen last year, we filled them up.  We were told that Immanuel gives the best clothes but no more are needed now.  Many thanks to Rich and Lynn for those clothes from their rummage sale, however, warm sweaters, jackets, scarves, and toiletries (small sizes) are needed.  Also sleeping bags are desperately needed as there are homeless people there.  We hope that many of you who wished to serve can do so.  We were overwhelmed with the number of "guests" that came last time and the few of us there to serve them.  Your participation in this ministry is greatly appreciated, especially from those served who tell us "may God bless you".  God's Blessings, Bob Rosenthal
