NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER 2024

Dear Prince of Peace Family,

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for the Halloween parade and Trunk-or-Treat! This was hands-down, our BEST ToT yet, and huge props go out to Caitlyn Cornelius and team for coordinating such a great event! A special thank you to all of YOU who decorated trunks, volunteered, donated candy, gift cards, baked treats, and contributed to make this event so memorable. Your generosity helped to create moments filled with laughter, treats, and a true sense of community!

With the holiday season upon us, I am truly looking forward to sharing these special moments with our POP family. Kicking off on November 12th, we are excited to welcome all grandparents for our Grandparents’ Week. This week has become a beautiful POP tradition, filled with joy and sweet moments of connection. Then, as we prepare for Thanksgiving, our classes will be focusing on gratitude, kindness, and the joy of giving.

I’m also excited to share about my Sunday mornings at POP! In my role in Children’s Ministry, I’ve had the joy of connecting with many of our families each week, and now we’re preparing for a special Children’s Sunday service on December 1st at 9:30am. I am thrilled to invite all preschool families to join us for this child-led worship service. Our preschool children will join our Sunday School kids to sing "Away in a Manger," and afterward, we’ll have a festive time together making family Advent wreaths, enjoying Christmas treats, music, and fellowship. It will be a beautiful way to begin the Advent season, and I hope to see many of you there!

Thank you for being a special part of our Prince of Peace family. We feel incredibly grateful to support your child’s growth and to share these treasured early years with you. May you and your loved ones have a Thanksgiving filled with love, warmth, and joy!

With gratitude,

Nicole Hilden

Grandparents Week at POP is here!

November 12-15th, we are so excited to celebrate grandparents and any other "like grandparents" our POP children have! Please check out the fun planned activities for next week below. Some classes will be planning some additional activities for the week, so please watch for any info from your teachers.

Join Us For Chapel / J.A.M.

We would love for Grandparents to join us for Chapel /JAM during grandparents week!

In Chapel/JAM, Ms. Jessica shares an interactive Bible story and praise songs.

This is a fun, active and lively praise time with all the classrooms. This will take place on Nov.12th at 8:50am in the Sanctuary.

We hope to see Grandparents there!

Scholastic Book Fair

The Book Fair will take place Nov.12-15th during Grandparent's week at POP! This is an awesome opportunity to shop for books, Christmas gifts, for Grandparents to spend time with grandchildren, and help your child's classroom get Scholastic dollars and more.

We will need many parent volunteers for this event. Please check out our signup genius link to volunteer!

Painting opportunities are open from 8am-5pm, Tuesday-Friday that week. Grandparents are invited to stop by to paint at a time that works for them and their grandchild, no sign-up necessary.

The tiles make wonderful gifts and keepsakes or you can paint a memory tile to add to our preschool walls. Please pick up a tile painting order form at the front office or see the link below to order your tiles.

POP Church and Preschool Community Outreach

For our November and December outreach, we are so excited to help spread the joy of Christmas and giving again this year. We are sponsoring a 5th grade classroom from the Title One school Sequoia Elementary.

We are also so excited to partner with Lighthouse for Hope Nonprofit this season! This amazing organization supports families that are going through Pediatric Cancer treatments, and it was founded by the aunt of one of our beloved POP kiddos! We will be collecting gifts and items to support the children and families they serve.

Please watch for our annual Christmas Tree in the front office and in our church narthex where you can pick up a tag to participate in helping sponsor our outreach this year!

Please make sure that the tag is returned with the gift and that the gift is not wrapped.

All gifts will be due December  2nd.

NEW***The Hot Coco Wrapping Party and Movie Night will be on December 6.

We invite you to come help wrap the gifts in our preschool courtyard from 5pm. We will have hot cocoa, goodies, pizza and Christmas movies! This is a great community service opportunity and fun social event for the whole family!

We hope to see you there and thank you for your support!

Spotlight on our Music Teacher, Ms. Kristen

Ms. Kristen McNeil has a big fan club here at POP. The children adore her and her music classes. She visits each classroom once a week on Wednesday or Thursday, which includes Infants and toddlers too. Ms. Kristen has been working in early childhood for over 18 years and she has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and a Master's Degree from the University of Phoenix.

*** NEW***

Starting November 7

Ms. Kristen will be leading POP Music and Movement Enrichment on Thursday afternoons. This is included with tuition. All children who are NOT napping, are age 3 and potty trained will participate. This class will be an extension of the musical fun that the children have during their weekly classroom music time. They will continue to explore the seasons and different genres of music, play music, rhythm games, learn games, read music books, and explore instruments--all while having fun with friends.

Thank you, Ms. Kristen, for sharing the joy and benefits of music with our children!
