October was a fun month with our 2nd Annual Scarecrow Harvest Contest. The creativity was flowing again this year and we had lots of spectacular displays for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

Thank you to all who participated and congratulations to the winners! If you participated, please check your emails for a brief four question survey. Your feedback will help us grow and improve the event for years to come.

As we move into November, We Are Oglesby Parade Committee is hard at work on the 2nd Annual Winter Parade, December 9th, 4:00pm! Our sophomore efforts are more streamlined and organized so we are ready to bring you a winter show to top last year! Our parade committee members are Amanda Carter, Michelle Kwiatek, and Angie Partridge (parade chair). These ladies are doing a phenomenal job! We need your participation in the parade to reach our goal. Entry is free and open until December 6, 2023. Be sure to continue to watch the Facebook event for updates.

Wow, it felt great to say second annual! With that being said, it is time to send out membership renewals for 2024. Membership forms are available here, on our website and at our meetings. Please keep your eye on the mail for our packet that makes the process easy to navigate!

We know you’re going to hear plenty about elections in 2024, and WAO officers are in the ring this coming year! If you want to join the board of officers, positions up for renewal this term are Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Marketing officers. You can self nominate before our January meeting by reaching out to any officer, sending a letter of intention to run for the specified office, or declaring yourself at our November meeting! Please note: If there are no nominations against an incumbent officer, then that officer shall retain their position for another term without requiring a formal vote.

It’s the time of year that all the holiday celebrations start to fill the air! We hope you can find time to join us for our November 15th meeting at 6pm.

Parade Route Map

Please note the following no parking and street closure order: Walnut Street, from Woodland Ave to Watson Ave will be no parking after 12:00pm and the street closed to through traffic starting at 3:30pm until the parade ends. Trexler to Pool Drive, Pool Drive to Lehigh Ave, and Lehigh Ave will be no parking from 2:00pm to until the parade ends. If you are in these areas, please mark this important date and plan accordingly.
