It's time for Give Local! We're so excited to be participating again this year, along with so many other local non-profits.
Hosted by the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound, Give Local is an online giving campaign to support nonprofits across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston Counties. For two weeks (November 6-17, 2023), everyone who loves the South Puget Sound can support their favorite local causes by donating to one or more participating nonprofits. Thanks to the generosity of the Dawkins Charitable Trust, each donation made during Give Local receives a proportional match from the $100,000 Bonus Fund.
When you donate during Give Local, the Community Foundation and sponsors cover credit card fees, so 100% of your donation goes directly to us. Plus, every contribution gets a boost from the Bonus Fund, stretching your dollars and allowing us to make more gifts back to our community.
Give Local officially starts on Monday, but there's no need to wait to make a difference. Visit our profile and make your gift today at spsgives.org!

Meteorology has always fascinated me, and as a backpacker and sailor, I’ve had plenty of reasons to pay attention to weather systems. You might know that November is our rainiest and windiest month here in the PNW. Energy left over in the system from summer heat enables higher energy events. So enjoy the drama before we settle into the more benign drizzle of January and February!
Speaking of changes in weather, I have to reflect that Senior Services for South Sound has our own seasons. Just recently we held our Fall Gala, where we celebrated our 50th anniversary as an organization. It was grand! We raised over $117,000 for our mission and people had a great time. Now that we are debriefing and recovering from that big push, we go into the Fall/Winter with an eye toward the holidays and finishing 2023 strong.

Our volunteers and staff worked hard to make the evening very special, and we were so happy to celebrate our first half century with our community. [read more] | |

Holly and Rosie are often thought of as sisters. While the label might be genetically untrue, the pair do consider themselves to be sisters of the heart and have the volunteer shift schedule to prove it!
Holly Maxim and Rosie Haque met each other while volunteering at the Senior Center’s Estate Store, but then COVID hit and the store eventually closed for good. When unmasked life finally returned to the Center, they both asked Volunteer Coordinator Theresa Ziniewicz if she would schedule them as a volunteer team at the Budd Bay Bargain store, and they’ve been working together every Wednesday afternoon since.
