I was sitting in a board meeting earlier this year and was posed the same question that gets asked of me at every meeting: ‘How are you doing? How is your walk?’ I cannot remember what I replied with, most likely that things were going well as many of us working out here were filling various roles and getting prepared for what was to come (there’s a run-on theme here: we are to be rigid with flexibility). A board member who came out to assist us occasionally replied that I was doing better than okay and was doing my job, setting a culture where staff wanted to work here and strove to serve God in a high-quality way. I slightly scoffed at his comment, but as he kept bringing it up, I sat on it and realized that it is a significant facet of my role and why I believe God has me out here currently...
