November news & updates

November 6, 2025

CEO CORNER

Dear Norwalk ACTS Partners,

I hope that everyone is staying warm as the weather transitions from warm to cool fall days. As the seasons change and the color of the leaves show their transition, I can't help but reflect on transitions in our community.

By exercising our civic right and duty to vote, we helped shape our community’s future. We’re honored to welcome Mayor-elect Barbara Smyth as we start a new chapter for Norwalk. We look forward to working and partnering with her as we continue our mission of putting more Norwalk youth on a path to economic and social mobility.

We had the pleasure of featuring Barbara on our Norwalk TALKS podcast before the election, where she shared some wisdom that deeply resonated with the work that we do, "care about your neighbor," "care about the common good," and do "what's best for everyone". The way we show up for our community is vital. At Norwalk ACTS, we often say that while we share a lot of numbers, there is a child behind every one. Every data point shows us where to direct our attention for the betterment of our community. Barbara shared how her community experiences continue to inspire her. That’s exactly what we strive for every Norwalk youth, resident, and partner to feel through Norwalk ACTS. Collective impact is about uplifting the community as a whole, because every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Take a moment to learn about our Day of Training on November 14th, which is free and open to all youth-serving adults; mentors, coaches, school support staff, tutors, and more. On December 9th, our next convening we will bring together city and school officials for an open discussion designed to demystify the City and Budget process and strengthen transparency for our community.

Join us for Transformation: From Vision to Reality, our inaugural collective giving fundraiser, on November 18th at HMTX World Headquarters: The House Up On The Hill. Your support fuels real change in our community. Celebrate, give, and be part of a movement that turns vision into action. Together, we can make an extraordinary impact!
